That the A day! Welcome to the Island Crisis Mauritius Blog of the Year Award 2008. Welcome…? Ok let the word…it’s just a word. I think Blogcome would have been the right word.

What a hot and also agitating competition we had! Real obsession to be the winner but however its really good this competitive reaction. Competition is really good. The competition was supposed to end on the 29th of December. I made a change in the ending due to the high level of cheating that were occurring in the votes! I contacted some of the bloggers and they all agreed for it to end on 26th December when I proposed that idea.

Yesterday while changing the automatic closing date, I guess i selected 25 instead of 26 and as a result the poll was closed last night… Yea technical errors happend! Even on big competitions it happens. Just to illustrate it, even in the competition of Daily Blog Tips which I participated, the feed system was down for one whole day due to very small mistakes. By the I forgot to announce the result at DBT competition as I was so held up with the migration process at the start if December.

Island Crisis ended with a rank of 28 on more than 125 international blog who participated in the Blogging Idol Competition. I thank everyone for their votes there. I think 28 is a very nice rank as there was lots of high SEO ranked blogs participating and the competition was just too good.

So I decided to allow the votes to be open today till noon but since some bloggers were against it so I had to ask some opinion and the majority said its ok if we continue till noon but so that there are no “manifest” from some, then its better to end it at 10:00 itself. So it ends….and now its time for the real award ceremony.

Here are the details of the awards. The awards consists of awards that have been allocated based on public votes from the poll and aslo 12 other awards based on type of content, popularity of field, seo values and also on dedication to blogging. Why? The competition aim to be fair to all the bloggers and mostly encourage them to blog rather than making them rivals! The public voting poll surely shows the total amount of votes a blog got but however to determine who is the best blog does not depend only on friends votes. So awards will be given to different blogs based on what they really did this year and about many factors which I will talk about below.

Each award has a badge made specially for that respective blogger and you can put that on your blog sidebar as a proof of your winning here. The badges are at a size of over 300 px however you can resize it to 160 x 140 while posting it to your blog. The details on the logo will still be clearly visible. I have already tested them on my browser. Just download it and upload to your server and resize. For those who need help to set this up, just contact me and I will set it for you on your blogs. Lets start!!

Blog of the Year 2008 and Blog of the Year 2008 Runner-Up awards.

These two awards have been allocated based on the total number of votes that these blogs got on the voting poll. The top 3 based on voting poll votes are shown below:

www.yashvinblogs.com – 136 votes – 30%
www.dakshinee.net – 105 votes – 23%
priscus.wordpress.com – 103 votes – 22%

So the Blog of the Year Award goes to Yashvin Blogs for 30% of votes with a total of 136 votes in the voting poll form.

And the Blog of the Year 2008 – Runner Up goes to www.dakshinee.net for 23% of votes with 105 total votes in the public voting poll.

Female Blogger of the Year 2008

Now its time for the Female Blog of the Year 2008 Award. As I said in the voting poll post, the Female Blog of the Year award is here because there are really a minority of active girl bloggers here in Mauritius. There are some but most of them are not so active and some have even stop to blog. This award is based on the most active female blogger and who has also been doing blog actions to encourage other girl bloggers and who has been very active for the past 12 months. The award for Female Blogger of the Year 2008 goes to priscus.wordpress.com

Most Promising Blogger 2008

This category consist of two section namely the Most Promising Male Blogger 2008 and the Most Promising Female Blogger 2008. This section concern those new bloggers who join the blog network of Mauritius this year and who has really some good chance of being popular blogs by the end of next year. Some of the factors taken into consideration are:

• Comment ratio
• Quality and Realism of content
• Interaction level on other blogs
• Ethical ways of replying to comments

These are just a few. So I award the Most Promising Male Blog 2008 to S4ndeep.wordpress.com – The decision has been a bit hard as I had two blogs for this one namely, S4ndeep and also pramodrt.wordpress.com. However after much thinking and fighting with my mind lol.. I award it to S4ndeep for his “kass pake dan comments lol” on the HSC leakage topic.

The Most Promising Female Blog 2008 goes to www.chaya.fowdar.com. Again on this one I had to choose between Chaya and Dhaneesha who is also a very good new blogger. However finally I choosed Chaya based on the activity rate and interaction on other blogs and also for helping a lot on field works such as the Debate we organised at university.

Most Promising Young Blogger 2008

This award is eligible only for young bloggers. This award concern Young blogger under the age of 20 who has some good chance of being a popular blog in Mauritius by the end of next year based on their determination to blog and succeed in what they are doing. The award for this category goes to www.metalikacrew.com .

The Blog of the Year 2008 – Media Attention category goes to lovvy.wordpress.com for his very well supported attack on a certain newspaper when they had published unverified news about the guy.

The Blog of the Year 2008 – Politic niche goes to priscus.wordpress.com for the very professional coverage of the Student Union Election 2008 and the Minister of Education chaos of March 2008.

The Blog of the Year 2008 – Micro Blogging award goes to… I would have given this award to Shah but since shah is no more blogging, I’ll give this award to www.tushal.net who is really becoming addicted to micro blogging these days.

The Blog of the Year 2008 – Real Life niche goes to www.tushal.net for his very detailed happenings in his life lol, how he met his girlfriend, how he left her, how his heart was broken….well the list is long. You got to have a look. Its always interesting to check Tushal’s blog every morning as there is always something new. Btw Tushal…. prepare yourself for another lab session for IC Love soon

The Blog of the Year 2008 – Graphic and Originality is awarded to www.saileshdesigns.com for his always original templates and nice graphic layouts. Pff…you should check that guy 404 page if you have not…lol.

So these were the awards for the Mauritius Blog of the Year 2008. I will not forget those who didnt win any award as all participants managed to get over 10 votes which is very good. So I made a special badge for all the participant.. That’s the Top 25 Blogs of Mauritius 2008. Don’t hesitate to use it. Its your’s…and I took 2 hours to make this post lol.

So here ends the award ceremony… hey no one awarded ME an award??? Damn!! That’s horrible! I should have been awarded atleast the Blog of the Island 2008 lol
