Are you what you eat?
I was lurking around on the web a found this topic. You are what you eat! Its a post of worth1000.com that was really funny that motivated me for this post.
YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT! ARE YOU?
Here are some sample of what we are talking about. So imagine you eat too much coconuts, so you will look like one?

Coconut Man - You are what you eat!
And what if you eat lots of pork meat? Do you think you will look like one? I think a mutant pork would be the best word lol. Have a look.

Pork Man
I found those pics really funny. Have a look a the whole list of pictures here, there are for oranges, pears, green stuffs and so on. Have a look.
Now lets talk about something, they are saying that You Are What You Eat! But are you really what you eat? I eat lots of KFC and I hope I am not like a KFC lol. Lets see. What do I eat?
In the morning its mostly bread with butter nuts or nutella. On the other side I hate normal butter! It taste awfully bad! As for a breakfast drink its mostly tea or milk with some choco stuffs. Now for lunch I mostly eat noodles if I am at the university or some ‘rotten dholl” lol :p – Dhall Puri! And drink is mainly water or some soft drinks.
For dinner, its mostly rice with some typical mauritian recipes as you all know: chicken, fish or at times fried stuffs such as burgers, sausage or even “un ti salad thon” lol.
As for the snacks during the day its mostly some of those not-good-for health fried snacks that we get at MIE cafetaria and some coffee. Oh I forgot to talk about KFC lol. However I am not eating much KFC nowadays because its too hot and if we eat such greasy stuffs in such a hot weather, its not good for health.
So buddies come one and share. What do you usually eat and what do you prefer to eat? How many time you eat per day?
By the way do you drink water? Do you know that it is recommended to drink atleast two litre of pure water daily?
Many people say that due to this hot weather, their head ache a lot. And you know why? Behave their body does not have enough water. Drinking much water can prevent all these. Don’t worry you will not look like water if you drink too much water. So how many litre of water do you drink per day? Come on and lets have a nutrition discussion
What do you eat and how many feast do you have per day? Do you drink enough water? And do you really think that you are what you eat?

@Yusha: In the forest we dont boil water lol
@WDB: Same as you. At times its very hard to skip a KFC meal when we see our friends eating lol. Well I also have thos junk food on the street at times…to feel more mauritian lol.
@Carrot: You are veg??? Oki… Now i know why the name carrotmadman lol :p – Carrotmadman eats a lot of carrot lol.
@Joyshan: You wake up at 10:30??? School?? Btw Joyshan…. even near mine there is KFC now hahaha. No need to take the bus to go and buy kfc.
@Lovely Butterfly: I often hear people saying they eat a salad for lunch. How is this possible ? :S You dnt feel hungry? If I eat only a salad for lunch i will feel like am starving lol :p I think eating some portions instead of big meals is better too. Often when eat a large meal and we stand up we feel lazy. On the other side eating small things while doing some work at the same time can be real fun.

I have 3 meals per day or maybe 2 1/2 meals per day depending on the time I have for breakfast and I usually drink a lot of coffee during the day (about 5 times). I however stop having it by 3 pm just to be able to have a good night’s sleep. Concerning the food, I try to have a balanced diet but its not really easy, sometimes you’re tempted in having a pizza at noon when all your colleagues are having it. Anyway, I do eat a really large variety of food.

at night i like eating lemon…when i am usually out for lunch or dinner and the waiter give me a drink with a lemon…i normally squeeze it in…but people normally take me a crazy…its just that i can`t waste resources
and the acca dinner, where protocol meant everything…i could not resist from squeezing the lemon on my marlin fillet and everybody looked at me…this is etiquette and everybody did the same, aah the good old time…i also used to bet with my cousins…last time i drank a whole bottle of lemon juice and my bp lowered…i had to take some idiotic pills…but i won 1k so it was worth…i hope that i don`t convert to a lemon

I can tell from experience that you really are what you eat! Before becoming vegan* , I would never have realised this. But eating only vegetables and grains etc, has had a major on my health and mind.
In the morning, I mostly eat fruits and wheat biscuits or oatmeal in soymilk , Midday, I sometimes have a sandwich with veggie burger, hummus (chickpea paste with spices etc), or sometimes salads,
Afternoon some biscuits, cakes,
At dinner, it’s always different! Steamed veggies, lasagna, pasta, veggie curries…well this is endless.
I eat a very varied vegan diet. But I don’t eat just 3 times a day, I eat in small portions all throughout the day. It is said to be more healthy to eat in smaller 4-5 portions than 2 -3 large meals.
I never eat fruits after a meal. Always before and most preferably in the morning. I rarely drink coffee. I drink mostly water and tea and a lot of herbal teas, green tea.
Drinking 2 litres of water a day is good, but too much is bad! It can wash away essential nutrients from your body in your urine if you drink too much water. It also puts a lot of strain on your kidneys. I was surprised to learn this myself but it kind of make sense. I would say in Mauritius, you’re fine with 2 litres or a bit more.
That’s probably a weird diet for most people but I feel great! I try to eat as much raw foods as possible and increasing it as I can. I feel more energised in this way. This is why some people fast on just fruits for some time, it is to allow you body to energise and get rid of toxins.
And yes it’s true if you eat a lot of carrots, you’ll become orangey in colour! lol!
*a vegan is someone who doesn’t eat any animals or animal products – that includes dairy products (milk, cheese, butter), eggs and honey, also doesn’t use and wear anything made from animals i.e. leather, wool, silk and fur.

Not really. By salad, I don’t mean just a few leaves of lettuce! I would definitely go hungry with just that! But my salads consists of, most often, raw carrot pieces, cucumber, avocado (when I can get them), couscous, baby potatoes (boiled or steamed), boiled beans like red kidney beans, chickpea etc, sweetcorn, tomatoes (I’m not a great fan of tomatoes though!).
Well, it’s quite a wholesome salad that’s low on fat and still filling.
And if I feel hungry after 2 hours, it’s nearly tea time and I eat biscuits, cakes or more fruits.
I don’t know, it just works out for me. But I think for guys it might be not enough. My boyfriend needs to eat bread or noodles for lunch, plus veggies, beans or bean burgers or tofu (teokon).
I think it really depends on people.

@Lovlie butterfly: I once ate the KFC chicken salad and I wont ever re eat that :S There was many greeny stuffs lol. Just kidding. Well mt truth is that I will die if i dont eat an animal lol. I cant evenb imagine being veg. But for sure a veg meal is more healthy.

Well i must say that ever since i’m in UK, i have adopted a meat-free diet… Having said that, i’m not a vegan though, since i do drink milk, wear fleece (you should be, given the winter here).. Anyway, the breakfast consists mainly of fruit and cereals. For lunch i have some toast accompanied with salad and for dinner, i mainly cooked veg food. By the way, i came across a new terminology – fruitarian, interesting though since they only eat what would fall from tree. Wikipedia gives a good description of this.
@avish – “Well mt truth is that I will die if i dont eat an animal lol” – lol

I am a major sea food and meat lover. Though I eat a lot of red meat I complement it with pleanty of fat splitters like garlic, onions, olives and small fishes such as sardines. By forefathers’ grace (since I dont’ believe in god I use that term quite often
) I am somehow maintaining a rather lean figure.
And man, that pork man looks really funny…and does the coconut man somehow resemble Tom Hanks?
[Reply to this comment]
Kurt – KFC chicken salad is not really salad, is it! I’ve never eaten it myself but I’ve never been a fan of KFC! (Do a search on KFC + animal cruelty on Youtube and you’ll understand why).
But that made me laugh too, sounds like my dad – “Well mt truth is that I will die if i dont eat an animal lol.”
Ashish – I wished I could be a fruitarian! But I don’t think it could be for soon, if I’m living somewhere surrounded by fruit trees then maybe. But in modern cities I don’t think it’s possible…I’ll starve before a fruit will fall from a tree!
Milk is not too hard to give up especially in the UK you have a lot of alternatives. In Mauritius it might be a bit hard. But I noticed, when giving up milk, that my sinus had cleared up and so has my asthma. I am much better. The thing is milk cannot be properly digested by the human body and therefore creates mucus. Also, it is strange that the human race is the only mammal in nature that drinks the milk of another mammal and that also pass the age of infancy. No other animals in nature drink the milk of another animal and certainly not pass infancy. They do eat the eggs and other animals but not the milk. When I came to know about this, I just found it weird to drink the milk of a cow which was intended for its baby! It is also sad the way milking cows are treated on milk farms. Anyway that was just my opinion.

@Ashish: Wow. You became a vegi too. I dont believe this lol. Fruitarian.. If I have good fruits to eat then I can have a fruitarian breakfast only.. as for the rest I need a poor animal lol
@Ajith: Meat along with sardines…and the splitters… that I call my food lol. Concerning Tom Hanks… maybe its him lol… he got a coconut head
@Lovliebutterfly: I think I agree with you on the milk stuff… ah i got an excuse to not drink milk… yuuck i hate it. I only like ice cream wlol. KFC salad? pfff…. its a big bowl with about 7 to 8 small piece of kfc …very small pieces. and surrounded by a crowd of lettuce leaves with sour olives. I hate that. Its like a rabbit food lol. :p There is no salt but an overdose of vinegar. Yuuck.
[Reply to this comment]
Lovliebutterfly – Maybe if someone leaves near a farm in South Africa, then its possible to be a fruitarian:).. Ya, i share your thoughts on the milking cows… I’ll look for alternatives of cow milk. A lot of people do argue on that milk thing, whether milk is actually good for us or not. Till now, i’m neutral on this one.By the way, I tried the cauliflower kalia recette once again, potatoes did not burn this time:) and was cooked in 2 tablespoon of oil..
