@me, well ur comment made me LMAO more than this blog post itself! A typical comment from a very ignorant person trying to defend with sarcasm such a talentless band which i assume you like much. But no matter what you say or think, what's true remains true. Along with marilyn manson, they are the biggest shame the metal & rock scene has ever witnessed. They got more haterz than people who actually like them.

Oh so i should be getting mature? lol, 10 years listening to crap, i really think you are the one who should be getting out of this 'crap box' shitknot.

Metal has never been about putting some stupid masks and acting like fcukin' monkeys live. A complete disgrace.

Lastly, if am a kid then you're not even a BABY! (:

.:. Fcuk mainstream, support the underground .:.

Great post!

@sjdvda
Sennheiser are great. If they happen to get "eaten", try Shure: this is the shit!
About the "SOB" (deklar mari), there is one 'litmus test': Ask them about a real, uncompromising band like Slayer. No-one so far has ever lived up to that one. See, you'll always run into the first-time-enthusiast-of-the-genre, one-song fan who thinks he knows all after listening to one song of a band, but with the eagerness that is inversely proportional to time from which he made his discovery. This kind of follower will never survive the Slayer test: it's not a fad band (like many many that I'll prefer not naming here to avert an unnecessary "troo"/fake debate about our common musical interest here), it cannot be listened to while doing mundane things, it requires your own time, patience and voluntary immersion. Just like Nadeem says, other "serious" bands are in fact making a music that pleases them first, and if you are open to the way they do things, then you'll be gifted with that special key to penetrate and enjoy their musical "soundscape": "mellow", "groovy", "aggressive", "technical", "moody", "heavy", storyline, concept, "glacial", "monolithic", "monumental", "primal" and "prehistoric" whatever you can find will be for your thorough enjoyment and personal experience. The one-song fan will never be able to tell the nuances between these. Ask them about the common point between Voivod, Flotsam&Jetsam, and Metallica for instance... Or, in your case: L.A. Gunns and Guns'N'Roses. Or the difference between Sunno))), My Dying Bride, and Cathedral.

@Animal
You are right, but only partly. I'm a metal fan for more than 20 years now, and am still keenly following my favourite bands of the time. Some have split, most have survived the "grunge" wave. But their lyrics have always inspired me. Like this guy says very well in the last paragraph of his review of a classic album:http://www.popmatters.com/music/reviews/m/metallica-master.shtml
As for Cannibal Corpse, they are still receiving praise ("unlike bands half their age, songwriting takes precedence over pure brutality, the end result being the kind of confident work that only master craftsmen could pull off")and being shortlisted in the best albums categories (2009):
http://www.popmatters.com/pm/column/116964-the-best-metal-albums-of-2009/
If I follow your logic about the raw/graphic nature of their lyrics, those who watched (and enjoyed) the "Saw" series should be closely followed, straight-jacketed and confined in some mental asylum? :-) Eh, we know it's just fiction and entertainment. If you don't then, it's not our/my/your fault. We metalheads enjoy quality, like gourmets, not just mass music like junk/fast food or tissue paper: listen once and throw away.
Example: who still "enjoys" Right Said Fred? Or New Kids on the Block? MC Hammer? or Jordy? Without triggering embarrassed cringing / laughter? :-D
Just peruse this:
"The fact that Fraktur [font] is used to typographically mark important, decisive, and binding moments—such as graduation or marriage—is not incompatible with its use
as a symbol of power. The brewery giants’ gothic logos refer to their craftsmanship, tradition, and origin, to a mode of production pretending to precede organized
industry, whose true quality can only be appreciated by connoisseurs. Fraktur’s connotation of connoisseurship also strikes a note with metal fans."
The American Roberto Martinelli, editor in chief of the online magazine Maelstrom, writes about unintelligible black metal logos:
‘A logo plays a huge part in the image of a company or product. This is also certainly the case with bands.... In black metal particularly, there is a certain revered aesthetic, like spikiness, illegibility, intricacy; to those things are added that intangible element that tells the connoisseur “this is a cult album that is worth
your time.”

Rest assured Animal, wine/whisky drinkers are not all heavy substance abusers, nor are those who enjoy horror films / Dexter-type serials potential serial-killers. This type of music has so many deeply divided genres and sub-genres that everyone finds his cup of tea, and IMHO, all find their cathartic expression, but they all know the bounds of fiction and reality. We don't stop at skin-deep preconceptions, we dive in deep first.

Ayo, mo'nn faire enn mari long lecture, mo'nn blier demann toi: did you pass the Slayer test? :-)

Cheers!
Merci ISLANDCRISIS!!

Metal is fun when you are young, tapping into the world of the unknown, but destroys you when you are old. Don't forget that constantly listening to destructive lyrics for more than 10years will definitely affect your psyche. Don't tell me you are Mr. Strong who will resist it all - you also have a subconscience that collects the rubish releases by those finely welded metal tracks. Also look for the druid beats used in metal, quite evil practices. By the way, I'm a die hard metal fan, but i can tell you, its not really music, its just noise - its fun when you are young, and when you get older its only an addiction ;)
Noise in, noise out: Thus I scream.
Morbid Angel: God of EMPTINESS!
Roaaaar, me, the Animal.
