Saturn was trying to flirt with the Moon on Valentine’s day

Heya this is a very small post about how Saturn was trying to flirt with the moon on Valentines day! Yea valentine’s was some days ago.. you knew it! But did you know that the big Saturn was trying to flirt with the Earth’s Moon on that day?

Before you say I am crazy and blogging like mad, just check the shots below! It was taken on the 14th of February 2009 at around 2:00 – A magnification of 59x was used on the Moon and 253x on Saturn! Wow!

By the way this shot is from our astronomer friend Gerry and was taken from Quatre Bornes. Thank’s buddy! This is one is his best shot ever. He send that to me some days ago and I thought about publishing this today! Enjoy the sight..! Can you see the ring of Saturn there..? Look well at the maganified star after the moon… Its Saturn and there is even the ring…

By the way a small funny poll for you below. What is your favourite celestial bidy among the ones in our Solar System? :-)

Sorry to disappoint anyone here but they were not that
close when I took the picture. It’s actually 2 pictures in one.
Saturn & the Moon were ~20 degrees apart (an entire hand span from
thumb to little finger with your arm outstretched) on the 14 Feb.
Saturn’s rings are easily seen in any telescope. My 10×50 binoculars can’t see them at all as the rings are edge-on at the moment, very thin; the reason why they are quite faint in the above picture taken from my telescope.

@Thierry: Ya I know lol.. Infact as you mentioned it i wrote it there “A magnification of 59x was used on the Moon and 253x on Saturn” – the moon is so great :-) I was thinking how to name this post and whole looking at it…and u said it was on 14 lol… i said why not make saturn flirt with the moon :P

Well even the saturn above is great…. really I never saw the ring even with my stupid binocular lol..(an amateur binocular..not pro) Thanks for the shot… :-) If there are others.. do not hesitate..and as you see there is a new category on IC now named astronomy now to cate for these and other astronomical phenomenon.
