Zombie Jesus? A World Insulting Another World?

I was doing some search on google about Easter and came across this word Zombie Jesus and some saying about Zombie Jesus Day!! Really I guess there was a movie with that name Zombie Jesus if I am not wrong but I just came across a website which has really make me feel like some people only have to insult to show that they don’t like something!!
I was infact looking for some information on why is easter celebrated and my initial post was going to be on that but then I came across that word. As a Mauritian I respect all religions and I respect Christianity too for what it is as it is. This is the beauty of Mauritius I guess. But when I saw that word Zombie Jesus I wanted to know what the hell is this. So I did some more search until I came across a website called zombiejesus.com which is highly insulting to christians! I am not directly linking to them but you can have a look by typing the address. Below is a preview of their front page.
Now my topic of discussion is not really if Jesus was a zombie or whatever nonsense that website claim! What I want to show is that assume I don’t like something and there are many people who like it out there, I do what? I simply reserve my opinion and will not insult the belief of the others. Right? That’s what you would do too I guess. But by coming across this website (check this clone of wikipedia too here) I have the feeling that people tend to mock others just in a way to catch attention!
I guess even a Hindu or a Muslim would have felt really hurt to see something like this about their belief! I am sorry if I have brought this topic today on the Easter day, but I wanna know what are your opinion on such people who mock the religion of others? Are the people who behave in this way always atheist or Satanist or what? What is your opinion on such people who tend to mock other religions and most importantly the question which came to my mind when I saw that picture was WHY THEY DID THAT?

There are various reasons for this:
First people that do not seem to tolerate other faith..Same as the prophet muhammad cartoon
Second people that think that they are “cool” when doing this. For them religion is for the old generation…
Third I will say that there are some that cannot seems to hear about god..

These things are common. Some of these motherfuckers (this is how they should be called) don`t like a religion or a group of people so they create something online to show off their fuc*ing frustration. These people actually are mentally troubled so why bother you on such people! Fuc* them and leave them alone! Just like on facebook there are groups against Hinduism, Islam, jews and the list goes on!

i believe no hatred must be cast towards em, since afterall they are free to think what they want.. i believe once faith isn’t that fragile so much that one has to become aggressive just coz of that.

There is no hatred here, I don’t see anything remotely suggesting hatred for Christianism. It’s just some people having some fun, religious jokes are ever-present in comedy, if you watch certain stand-up comedians, you will find out that religion is a best-seller for comedy, especially Christianism and Judaism. These days, the slightest mention you make of a religion, you are labelled as a racist terrorist! Racism and hatred is people killing each other in Kashmir, Palestine, Rwanda, Sudan,…etc, this website is NOT hatred. What the hell is wrong with you guys??

When I wrote that post last night i must agree i was upset awhen i saw this. However yea yr right too. Evryone is free to have his opinion and as said above itsthe person having faith who must have a strong one.
This make me remember the incident of the art piece MAA in mgi mauritius. The VOH made a scandal about this just becoz a hindu divinity was painted in a somehow erotic manner. I think an artist has the right! Even in india we see many nake statue. I still wonder about the VOH action against that picture.

Lighten up? Why don’t you Tighten up a bit? Just because someone feels like offending my beliefs I have to accept it an be o-k with it or else I’m ‘old-fashioned’ or sth like that? See, I have the right not to be offended in my beliefs, so all those feeling offended have the right to say they are feeling offended and speak their mind. It’s like this every time, when religious groups, especially Christians, feel offended, everybody goes ‘oh, you tight a**es again’ and it’s not like that: it’s just asking people not to offend us with degrading remarks about our holy figures,,,

@Sepmaz, of course, you totally missed my point. I did not say no-one should ever be offended. I said this is NOT hatred towards Christianity. No-one is talking about your rights. NO-one can stop you from being offended, but I am entitled to my opinion on whether this is racist or not. And I think it’s not. I think people who think it is racist or hateful need to lighten up. People make jokes about Hindu gods having many arms, about the high number of gods and goddesses we have, do I feel hatred?? NO! Because my faith goes beyond the little comments people make about my religion while trying to be funny.

Ya if I am not wrong that website was made specially for easter 2009. It has no page to read jus a mainpage. It an insult to Jesus however we must agree too in some way the people who did it are free todo it… maybe in the same way religions can stigmatize satanists (Lavey Satanist…not those movie satanist)

It’s NOT an insult to Jesus, it’s just a bloody website with a funny description of Jesus as a zombie, because he was resurrected. I don’t get this fuss.

You are arguing about it, I am arguing against the fact that people are arguing about this, I find it insignificant, it will take an absolute fool or someone with no concrete Christian belief to think that Jesus is really zombie after having looked at the website.
Please please please, please sort out your priorities. I am fed up with this generation of hyper-sensitive people. This is nothing compared to how Jews are portrayed in comedy in developped countries. I personally think Jesus wouldn’t be outraged by this. He was humble enough to wash the feet of other people, to forgive the people who betrayed and killed him, who booed him, spit on him and laughed at his sufferings and mocked his claim to being the son of God.
In comparison, this is silly. It is a pretty good parody in fact. Eat my flesh, Drink my blood. That’s exactly the point of going to Church each week.
Though I still think people should avoid doing such things, just to be considerate to people who are more easily upset.

Wow Yashi you’ve got some balls man. If they were playing then fine if they weren’t and they are starting crap then fine. None of this matters but it sucks to have some one you believe in being made fun of no matter the situation. I’m not a christian and don’t claim to be but if they want to talk about then let them. I don’t think it’s your place to come in here and be a prick because they feel that this site is wrong. You are right about the whole not being hyper-sensitive gig you were mentioning above but no matter where you are standing in the sand eventually there has to be a line drawn. I mean for instance what if I made a site that talked about your family and said things about them that might be true or at least true in a round about way but they were insulting to you would that be ok if you thought I was joking? I mean what proof do you have that that’s the only thing they were doing? Either way the point I’m trying to make is no one’s doing anything anyways except for talking about this site. It’s not like they are trying to start a petition to get rid of it or arrest the make or some crap like that and a few people have even said yes it’s his/her right to make the site but that doesn’t mean anyone has to like and that they can’t b*tch about it and its “humor”.

I am a Christian and I wished some of my friends a “Merry Zombie Christ Day” on Easter. I did so with no malice or ill will. It was simply a comment on the fact that Easter is a celebration of when Christ rose from the dead…. Just like zombies do….
