Bloggers are the rulers of the web! There are many bloggers in the world and everyone has the Pro-Blogger dream. I am a fan of anti-ways to express something and as such here are my 10 ways to not become a good blogger. I think that by examining the top 10 ways of not becoming a pro-blogger you can find the ways to become a good one.

1. Do not reply to your commentators at all
While it is acceptable that Techcrunch and Problogger cannot reply to all the commentators due to the large amount of comments (300+ at times), new bloggers and medium bloggers often also follow this way and eventually push away readers who have been asking questions and never got any answer making as if those readers have no value for the blogger!
2. Reply only to your friends and piss off the others!
Some bloggers tend to live in a close circle and thinking they are the leader while the fact is that they lead only in a small circle among the millions of similar circles!
I mean that there are some bloggers who reply only to some commentators whom they know and avoid the others who are also making constructive comments. A dedicated way to push off prospective fans!
3. Never accept your own mistakes and use ego
If you got an ego problem, then keep it at home and don’t let it reach your blog in case you want to be a good blogger. Else you will be known as the arrogant overconfident “fool“. That is, if a commentator tell you something is bad on your blog, there is no need to act like a hyperkid!
What you think is good on you blog can be seen as bad by others. Instead of being a hyperkid, reply the person in a gentle way and ask how it can be made better. Of course you don’t need to do what he wants but atleast learn to listen!
4. Criticize other bloggers in your comments or post
This is the worst thing that you can do! When you criticize someone, you need to be sure you have the solid points that everyone think your criticism is alright. When you criticize another blogger, don’t forget that the other blogger also has a fan base and by doing this you are pushing away a prospective fan base for your own blog! If you need to criticize then do it in an ethical and analytical way and only if you are right and he is wrong instead of just criticize jst forthe sake of your own ego.
5. Copy the work of another blogger
If you want to be flagged as a splogger then please do it right now. Once you are qualified as a splog in the blogging sphere you will either need to change your whole name or face to have another chance to become a good blogger.
Copying includes:
- Copy the whole content of another blogger on your own blog.
- Copying part of another blogger work and do not make any link back or reference.
- Copying a part of a blogger’s work in your own comments on another blog without reference to the original source.
6. Thinking and shouting loudly that you are the best and the rest are pests
Personally I called someone who auto-praise himself more than needed as a dumb kid. You can call it many other names. Did you ever saw the top bloggers going to shout loudly that they are the best of the world? No! To become the best, people will say that you are the best and not yourself who autoclaim it. Sure you can sometime say it or even show your qualities and this is done by many professional bloggers.
However never underestimate other bloggers. One blogger I appreciate a lot is Michael Dunlop who is almost the same age as me but yet very successful and you know why? Because he never underestimate anyone.
7. Ignore new and small bloggers
A blogger who is new or small today can become a pro-blogger the next year! So if you think you will always only participate in discussions on high profile blogs and leave the small ones it will be your biggest mistake. To be a good blogger is to be someone that the new comers can ask for help when they really need it or even use you as a reference. So always be friend with both established bloggers and also newcomers. Now you need to differentiate between a newcomer blogger and a newcomer splogger whose aim is just to copy the work of others.
8. Writing only for the sake of getting comments
A blogger writes so that other people read and also find the post useful in some way. If you are a blogger who writes only for comments then you will be disapointed because for the simple reason some articles can make people react a lot while other articles are just meant to inform people.
Take a small example of Problogger. Even Darren gets less than 30 comments on some posts even with over 80000 subscribers! So does this make Darren a bad blogger? No! Write for the sake of your passion that is blogging and attract readers. Comments will flow in naturally.
9. Spam spam and keep spamming
Recently there was a guy around here who has been sending me his new blog links. However akismet flagged his comment as spam. I guess someone else already flagged him as spam somewhere else. Now I often check my spam folder to see if some legitimate comments might have slipped in. I was going to approve his comment when I noticed he sent the same thing about 8 times!! And you know what impression does this gives? A spammer!
If you want to ask for a blogroll link, contact the author like an ethical person and ask. He will reply you if your blog match his blog topics. If you need to leave a comment with a link in it, do it only once else you will be of course automatically flagged as spam.
10. Leaving spammy similar coments on all blogs
I guess most of you know of those comments which look like “nice post” or “good!” or even “great” and worst “cool. check my site at ****”!
Now these are comments that many bloggers do approve but will never give any importance. You imagine yourself that you wrote a post information about the Death of someone and a commentator come and say “cool. check my site”?
You get what impression? It is as if he didn’t even read and left a comment just for the sake that he gets a backlink. Now when other bloggers notice that you leave such comments on many blogs, you are already being tagged as “this guy is not serious”.
I said 10 so I stop here but there are many to be added. Maybe somebody else can continue the list. What do you think? Have you ever been doing any of the above? Do share the article if you find it useful.

@Web Design Bureau of Mauritius, Well just remove the word “pro” replace it by “good”
The other 10 ways remain the same.
The above mentioned tips are to become a good blogger, and I think ANY BLOGGER whether he wanna be a pro-blogger or a personal blogger, the above points goes along well with him.
Just a small clarification: I used the word pro-blogger above but this does not only mean to be a blogger obtaining the 4 figures dollars per month and getting the 6 figures views per month.
By pro-blogger I meant a good blogger having any respectable reader base and who write (not rewrite).
Now there are many type of bloggers: We have bloggers who do photoblogging, some microbloging etc.
The 10 ways above are not to make a blogger a clone of “Problogger”. These can be applied to any blogger blogging personally or just for fun.

@Kurt Avish, yeah I was talking about doing “respectable blogging” as you put it.

“NIHAHAHA Frak you IC* chek my blog …. ” WLOL @ this!
You stop becoming “the” blogger when you get success
like these big bloggers who don`t care about the readers, “no big deal if they loss one reader!”, Its maybe because of this no reader-author interaction that i have stop reading Problogger or John Chow. However some of these blogging Celebrities do reply!
Kurt Avish
@Joyshan, LOL. Sadly this is true. Many of the pro-bloggers does no more care about their readers. Its as if “its nothing if 100 persons goes away from 100000″
Anyway this is not my case. I still have a small reader base (about 150 on the feed) even if the views are much. But each subscriber and each reader is valuable whether he is a regular subscribe reader or a one time search engine reader.
Whenever I see someone who unsubscribe from the email feed, I often email them to first thank them for having a subscriber and then ask why they unsubscribed. And believe me, most of the time an unsubcribed subscriber return back after some days!
Its all about building a relationship (virtual) with the readers and acknowledge their importance.

I add:
Always lamenting without any valid reason.
Copy paste others articles without permission.
Kurt Avish
@yusha, Lol…I do lament at times yea thats true. But I think lamenting and then proposing a solution is better
As for copy articles yes… i mentioned this above. Its the worst thing. I will come with an article later on on how to handle those who copy your whole stuff by attacking the web host directly!

11. Humbility – A Negative Point For Those Wanting to Become Pro-BLogger COmpletely Bluffed
Instructions TO BeCoMe One:
1.Not Being Humble. Write only bias(one-sided) post, you will get only fame, fame and views(think of that Saturday Newspaper).
2. Critize your island/country as much as possible giving the least details about it’s positive achievements.
Kurt Avish
@alomoris,
“”think of that Saturday Newspaper”" LOL.
“”Critize your island/country as much as possible giving the least details about it’s positive achievements.”"
Aimed at me?
Well I criticize many aspect of the country very often but when there are things to be proud of I also talk about it. However sadly during the last few months, we have very less things to be proud of and more to critisize
When you imagine people mass murdering animals, killing of an innocent guy because of silly love stuff and steal his money, students walking with infected needles to scare their friend… well there is much.
alomoris
@Kurt Avish,
The situation of the society today is really deplorable and it’s the Mauritian Blogger’s right to BLog aBout This
No Dude, you don’t really critize at that level
