An unseen extreme social behavior from pygmy killer whales observed for the very first time by scientists! This is some news that caught my attention. We know about human exhibiting social behavior such as caring, loving and support but here scientists observed for the first time a rare species of whale called the pygmy killer whales who shown well developed social behavior.

The story started 3 weeks ago when a small group of pygmy killer whales started to approach the Hawaii waters. What is amazing in this is that the pygmy killer whales are known to live in very deep water and are among the most difficult to observe and are really very little known to marine scientists.
The small group started to approach the beach since 3 weeks and among them was a sick pygmy killer whale! What is outstanding in this is the behavior that these animals showed. They were in fact escorting one of their old member toward the shore. The old whale was sick and apparently it wanted to die near the shore and see the land!! Those whales who live like a well structured family in fact escorted the sick whale and with each days one by one would leave to return to the deep see.

This behavior is in my opinion really amazing and touching! Marine guys around the shore finally got hold of the whale when all his family has return to the deep sea and tried their best to save it. However it was suffering BADLY from a severe pneumonia and liver damage due to old age.
It was suffering a lot so it was euthanize yesterday. What intrigue me in this is this well developed social interaction among these whales. They are just better than human! Nowadays many children tend to forget their old parent when they become old and do not even care! These whales are an example to humanity! They showed how the care for their old member!
“We think this was just a very old whale and it was his time,” Schofield said. “This whale came ashore and gave to us new knowledge so that we can help other whales in the future” said one of the scientist.
They are more faithful and social than humans! They escorted and elder of their tribe and let it satisfy its last wish to see the land. They protected it from possible predators which could have attacked him due to its old age. They stayed with it till they knew he would not stay long anymore. Human should learn some social respect from these animals.
