Continental Pilot Dies In Flight But Airplane Landed Safely

June 18, 2009 / 7 Comments

The pilot of a Continental airplane dies during a commercial flight today but luckily the airplane with 247 passengers landed safely. The Continental airplane a Boeing 777 which was coming from Brussels to Newark somehow managed to land with only two co pilots at the control.

continental airline

The main pilot died over the atlantic ocean at the age of 61 after 20 years of service as pilot. His death is claimed to be of natural occurence due to his old age.

Seems the passengers had their good luck with them. The passengers were apparently informed of the pilot’s death on the flight itself and the crews were looking if there could be any doctor onboard the plane.

The weird thing about this is that even though it was announced that the pilot was dead many people in the plane only learned about it after the landing when they saw the airplane surrounded by emergency firemens and ambulances.

Wow, talk about scary. I have a heart condition too and have not flown since I had my
angioplasty procedure. I think all these pilots should be tested more frequently, especially when they are older than 50. Sorry if that’s age discrimination.
