Last week 8 unconfirmed cases were detected in Mauritius. Since our dear country does not yet have the equipments needed to verify the samples, they were sent to South Africa for further tests.

The reports came today and over 70 cases of Dengue Fever has been spotted in Mauritius. The disease is caused by a special mosquito called the aedes albopictus which has black and white marks on its legs. The mosquito is bigger in size than the normal mosquitoes.

The Ministry of Health of Mauritius has already started their country-wide mosquito repelling process. Those mosquitoes normally sting a person on the legs and is attracted by dark regions.

In case you are having symptoms such as fever, headache, abnormal muscle pain and symptoms like la “rougeol” do consult a doctor immediately. The Dengue fever can be LETHAL if not treated in time.

      Hi Lovvy,

papaya leaves are an old remedy in SEA for any kind of fever.

I do not see any impact specific to dengue.

Most important is salt. Fever patients have a much higher survival rate if they take enough salt during the fever. Many people having a fever of any kind, die not because of the original cause of the fever but simply because of the lack of salt in their blood.
