Football And Mauritians Its A Dirty Shame

June 29, 2009 / 18 Comments

Mauritian mentality when it comes to Football. Oh it s*cks! Yesterday was a special football match organized by Didier Agathe at Anjalay stadium in Mauritius (of course).

funny football

Many football stars such as Ashley Cole were present in Mauritius for the match and guess what?! Well many Mauritians were angry because the “STARS” played only for about 20 minutes before being replaced.

I even heard some comments on the radio. One woman was saying she paid Rs400 to watch Ashley Cole play and that he played only 20 minutes. So in my opinion the woman is a bloody nonsense as she went to watch one guy! She didnt want to watch the football match! Thats the problem with many Mauritians! They don’t appreciate a game… same for an art. They appreciate physics and fame!

Going out of subject I’ll also say that this occurs in many other sports here! We don’t watch the sport. We watch the body or the celebrity status!

So if tomorrow I give a piece of dog shit and say that the shit has been tasted by Britney Spears well I assume many will taste it too because Britney Spears tasted it!

Another man said that he is not a “Con” (a fool) and he understand all these well. He was angry and left the stadium because he thinks he paid Rs400 for nonsense.  He thinks he has been fooled to come to watch this match! Hah!

Football of Celebrities

Football of Celebrities

And you know why Mauritius still s*cks and will always s*cks when it comes to football? Because here people don’t value their own capacity! They always value the TV and celebrity status! So if the same Mauritian play here..he s*cks for the Mauritian! And the same person go to play at Anfield and appear on the damn TV then wow he has become god!

Mauritian you should learn to watch the sport. Dont just watch what the TV taught you! It’s a shame mentality in my opinion. What will all these football players who were playing there yesterday think? Instead of encouraging our local boys or even encouraging all the players there.. Our dear brothers and sisters were there to watch MOVIES!

Its a dirty shame Mauritius! Its always the “I only do to gain” mentality here and this is a wider shame! Thanks God not all Mauritians are the same however.

C’est bien ça les mauriciens. They ignore what’s really important and go for the superficial one.

I think the woman must blame herself first of all, because she must be very stupid to spend Rs400 on a match ticket, where Ashley Cole and Eto’o, both having had a torrid football season which finished a month ago only were NEVER going to play 90 minutes. It is an exhibition match, do you really think they would go out and burn themselves out so that they get injured or something and then miss the start of next season?

Get some f*cking brains, woman! I am pretty sure you don’t have a job, but you still went out and bought a Rs400 ticket!

The players are not to blame as well. It’s a fun occasion, they don’t need to woo the crowd and also, left backs don’t tend to run matches and strikers are not playmakers, so I don’t know why people were expecting Cole and Eto’o to dazzle and control the match! It’s like going to see a goalkeeper play and then be upset that he did not make any saves!

The players cared enough about the fans because they turned up in Mauritius and played in a football match. Most of them would have ignored the invitation (like Ribery and Drogba) and scampered to the Carribean for their holidays! I mean, Agathe is not really a great player…

If I was a Chelsea fan, I would have been happy just to see Cole in front of me. I wouldn’t give a damn about how he played! I already know how he plays!!

Exactly thats what i wanna say. Those player were here just becoz their friend Agathe invited them. They were not doing a critical sort of match here… as you say it was an exhibition.

I think that event should have been a family take out event and not a radical match supporters day lol…but I heard some even took their flags and started to say “rotten creole words” there lol.

I dont agree. The woman is right. i watched the match. and the football played by them were not grandiose. You say apreciate the game? well, you need quality players so that people apreciate the game.

    ***They appreciate physics and fame!***
Not true again. Im not gay. *lol*
Why do those players have fame? evern thought? simply because their level of football is much higher. Its not the ball that makes the game. THE PLAYERS make the game. and to tell you frankly, 3/4 of the people at anjalay went to see ONLY Eto’o and Ashley cole play. If these two players were not invited. the stadium wouldnt have been as crowded as yesterday. Its not about the money. Its a one in a lifetime opportunity for most of these mauritians to watch those stars play.

one again.. those celebrity football players, are not celeb just like that, its because of their football.

Who cares about all those 1000′s of player who plays football? they do it! so what? To watch your IDOL play in front of you is something else. :)

do you have an IDOL in world football?

@Sun, “well, you need quality players so that people apreciate the game.”

I think people went to watch the players now the game . So even if those guys doesnt play well , just because they are famous people will like the game.

What about the spirit of the game?

“Why do those players have fame? evern thought? simply because their level of football is much higher”

Really… are they really good players or it is all about advertising good players. You know there are a number of african players who are far better than European one .Those guys are the best because people made them the best and some are good looking. Thats all.

” 3/4 of the people at anjalay went to see ONLY Eto’o and Ashley cole play”
True you are right … they went to see the players …. not the game.

        @priscus,

“are they really good players or it is all about advertising good players.”

No, Ashley Cole and Eto’o (who is African by the way) are really world-class players. Advertising doesn’t make a football player world-class. It’s not Hollywood. Advertising can make a player earn a lot, but will not turn him into a great player!

Being good-looking has nothing to do with how good you are. Ribery is not as good looking as Spurs midfielder Bentley, but Ribery is one of the best wingers in the world. They don’t become the best because they are good looking. Ronaldinho didn’t have the best teeth but at one time, he was the best player in the world with bucket loads of genius ability and talent.

It’s the same in every sports!

@Sun, Again but I still maintain my points.. The match was a match in honour of a player jubilee. .. and people who bought the ticket should know that… I dont even see that the advertising for the event was in anyway misleading.

Now yea I know the quality of the match was not like a premier league match being plyed..but was it organised for such? The players who were playing were doing so as volunteers..it was nt a COMMERCIAL match in anyway.

Even though they found the match not to the expectation of the FA.. atleast bizin pa fair vilain do… it should have been a moment spend with family there. Thats the problem here… ;-) Omoin zot pa ti bizin fer ban comentair oci …. ‘vilain’ lor radio…bon radio plus in gagn un news pu fer dife monte li lol.
