Ever heard of a lake called Lake Titicaca? Well apparently from what the Huffington Post mentioned on the 1st of June is that lake Titicaca is really full of  “caca”! Ok you understand creole and as such you need to know that “caca” means sh*t. So here is another IC discovery post and let’s get in.

You must be thinking that I am joking? No I am not. I am not saying this because of its name but because it has been reported on several news that Lake Titicaca is indeed full of sh*ts and that swimming in that lake can actually makes you.. well you know.

Lake Titicaca is found in Peru, South America. Based on the latest report of the Environment Ministry of Peru, more than 12 million cubic meters of sewerage are dumped into that lake each year!! Woo! Poor fishes and creature in there

The Lake Titicaca is in danger! Why?

The lake is a highly targeted tourist attraction in Peru but due to the waste being dumped in it every year it is actually becoming like a toilet tank! Why?

Well because the lake is a closed basin one. That is many rivers join in it but it does not have an output to the seas. In a nutshell it means that all the waste remain in the lake and decompose right there. It is known that when waste decomposes, methane is formed and this is a really dangerous aspect for the ecosystem of this lake.

Now adding salt to the wound, many factories also dump their chemical waste in this really large lake. Infact the Titicaca lake is one of Peru’s greatest navigable lake! Unless the Peru’s government take quick action to stop this environmental massacre, then the country will soon be loosing a part of its natural beauty.
