Our former President Mr Cassam Uteem has been selected to speak at the upcoming International Symposium on Cultural Diplomacy by the Academy for Cultural Diplomacy. This is a matter of proud for the country. Mr Uteem is expected to speak on Democratic Participation and Cultural Inclusion in multi-ethinic and multi lingual societies at the synposium. The audience will be able to ask him further questions.

To note Cassam Uteem has been the longest serving President of Mauritius and also one which was loved by almost all Mauritians! Mr Cassam Uteem was President of Mauritius from 1992 (since Mauritius became a republic) to 2002. He has won worldwide apraisal for his work to maintain peace and stability in Mauritius among all religions.
I still remember the yearly event when he would go to some poor family of his choice in the country and have a cup of tea with them. Really he was original.
Before becoming President of Mauritius, Mr Cassam Uteem was Minister of Employment, Social Security and National Solidarity, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Industrial Technology.
Mr Uteem will share his experience at maintaining stability and controlling a multi racial country at the symposium. More details about this event can be found here.

Great thing! Heard that he wanted to get in to politics again?
