Second Case of Swine Flu H1N1 Detected In Mauritius

July 20, 2009 / 12 Comments

It was announced some time ago by the Mauritius Ministry of Heath that a 2nd case of swine flu h1n1 has been detected and confirmed in Mauritius. The infected patient is a 11 years old guy from the UK who landed in Mauritius last Saturday 18th July.

h1n1, h1n1 virus, h1n1 photo, h1n1 flu

Blood samples sent to Candos laboratory confirmed the swine flu case of H1N1. All passengers who were on the same flight as the infected guy are being treated with Tamiflu too and will have follow up treatments by the staffs of the Ministry of Health of Mauritius.

The infected guy was accompanied by his younger brother who has not been diagnosed as having h1n1 but as precautionary measure, he is being treated with [wikipop]Tamiflu[/wikipop] also. The infected guy is right now being treated at Souillac hospital.

The Ministry of Health issued a notice today informing the population to stay calm as supposedly Mauritius has enough Tamiflu even for the worst case and more stock are being ordered.

swine flu, h1n1, swine flu virus, mexican flu

Ps: One thing which make me wonder..why do they keep people infected at Souillac hospital? Is it coz the population there is smaller or is it because it is the south and they think they virus will get tired to fly to the north lol. :P

I heard the news on radio . If only the minister of health was intelligent to put cameras like in china. WE would have detected this issue earlier.

Problem in Europe is that the virus should have died in summer but it has evolved and can stand it. Once we get into the more humid weather of autumn things will really get nasty… that’s what is bringing up concern. This said, I’m going to London next week end, hope not to come back with the virus.

Seriously we are getting concerned in the UK … they are even pondering the possibility of extending school holidays for one month to minimize human contact in large groups and mitigate the spread of the virus in autumn.
