So as from this week, Nomad users will see an additional Rs75 fee as modem rental fee in their bill. Nomad explained that due to recent installation of new Security and Bandwidth management equipments, they are compelled to introduce this new addition fee to be able to profit from the investment.

Informed yesterday by Nomad Mauritius:

Our ultimate objective is to help our customers grow by providing them with long term, reliable and scalable services. In order to continue providing you with a high quality service, we have recently installed new Security and Bandwidth Management equipment which, we are confident will benefit all our customers. This along with the general increase in costs, have compelled us to introduce a new rental fee of Rs 75 on our modems on a monthly basis.

So as from this month you all of you people using Nomad will have an additional Rs75 in your bill. For example if you usually pay Rs 459 you will onward pay Rs 534.

For more information about this sudden increase, you can contact Nomad on +230 4664800 – And of course if they do not reply the call for a long time, let me know. I’ll make a nice post about poor customer service for them lol. Note however that the hotline is operational from 09:00 to Midnight only.

    Yea I agree. Well for me its fine except that its slow but other people do report much problem with Nomad. Anyway…MyT is not better lol. The only advantage of Myt is for the almost same price you get faster speed…but then considering the amount of complaints on MyT these days…I shall say MyT learn how to S*ck with Nomad lol
    :P

    We really need more providers here.

    11kb on 256??
    :-? Huh but I get 8 to 12 kb on 64 — Are you sure they didnt give you a model 64 and said its 256 lol? You need to call them and let them know about this. When the guy take the phone and say its a technical problem…do like as I do… I say:

    “NORMAL LI PU TECHNIK LI PA KAV CHIMIK. MAI EXPKIK MOI KI PROBLEM SA?”

    If he can’t then tell him frankly he is an idiot (as I always say it) and give the line to a real engineer there! However believe me..most of the time you will be wiser than the engineer and finally you will tell him what to do to solve the problem instead of HIM telling you what to do lol
    :P

    @Kurt Avish, haha..

    Let me explain what happen..

    First I had a 64k connection but the with the decrease in price I ask them to upgrade it 256k..
    Download speek was 6k then goes to 12k after they did the modem configuration thingy or whatever they do (at my request)

    I phone them again to tell them that I was expecting more than this. Do you know their answer..Use a download accelerator…

    then I left for Malaysia and when i return I wanted to make the shift to MyT..but i’m quite lazy to go to MT..so i’m still with Nomad..I think now is the time to make the switch but before I will have a good laugh at them…

    I shift to MyT last month, all that i can say is that their is a world of difference. I used nomad for about 10months and had problems with it several times. Nomad should hire profeesional coz very often i had problms like that i cant login.
    Now that i remember they still havent refund me my Rs500…

    Kurt Avish Reply:

    @Vaiizard,

    When you are really tired of them and is fed up..best solution is to LAND UP with the modem at the headquarter and create a “decent man like” choas. You’ll see how they listen to you par force lol.

    nomad hmm, they always speak about improvement, i use nomad since two years and there is no improvements. I just moved to the 256kbps which is fairlygood, but only on weekdays and after midnight lol. Only after midnight you get a better connection. i found this very funny. And on weekends the internet connection falls down. That really sucks. Concerning the 75 roupee more, they will get a good brainwash from me. there is nothing such in my contract, so why i should agree wiz that?….Security and bandwidth, they are just using technical words to fool people haha. i hope i can move to Adsl or myT one day.

    Kurt Avish Reply:

    @killingmachine, Even I can’t have myT here nor Emtel. But i’ll give nomad an improvement time. If they have really installed new equipments for improvement then it should be visible by december. Else am moving to ADSL. (coz cant get myt here).

    I had been a customer for a few months around 2006. The download speed of 20kb on a 256 line was indeed a “fast” download rate for me!!!
    One of their techs had already visited my place to check/reconfigure the modem. But nothing changed. I was so fed up that I didnt wait for any second visit of the tech (he had to come and ascertain that I was having a coverage problem) in order to cancel my subscription without any penalty fee. I canceled anyway and had to pay somewhere over Rs1500 as penalty fee. I didnt care. I this nomad thing to get the hell out of my place! God did I get mad at their crappy customer service! I wouldnt wish nomad upon my worse enemy! :-p

    Lol these are famous problems with nomad. Anyway I am forced to use this until I get a phone line here so I can install ADSL (Not Myt as MyT is a refined version of Nomad lol).

    For the time being here everything is wireless lol. (Frm the normal phone to the internet).

    when i have received this letter i was surprised as nomad told that we will to paid Rs 75 more due to previous things that nomad made was to reduce the price according to GVT and now nomad is increasing his price again as they said

    “Nomad explained that due to recent installation of new Security and Bandwidth management equipments, they are compelled to introduce this new addition fee to be able to profit from the investment.”

    Due to me I don’t think that the new Security and Bandwidth management equipments is not benefit for customer and nomad want to make more profit. nomad don’t care for his customer ,the want only profit.
    According to Adsl Nomad price is very expensive. Adsl minimum connection is 256kbps and Nomad is 64kbps. nomad 64 kbps is at Rs 534 and Adsl is at Rs 499 adsl is 3 times than Nomad and is cheaper than nomad
