September 26, 2009 / 24 Comments

Nomad ISP in Mauritius will be increasing its fees as from this month. A surplus of Rs75 as rental fee has been announced today due to increase in maintainance cost and network upgrade.

nomad internet mauritius

So as from this week, Nomad users will see an additional Rs75 fee as modem rental fee in their bill. Nomad explained that due to recent installation of new Security and Bandwidth management equipments, they are compelled to introduce this new addition fee to be able to profit from the investment.

Informed yesterday by Nomad Mauritius:

Our ultimate objective is to help our customers grow by providing them with long term, reliable and scalable services. In order to continue providing you with a high quality service, we have recently installed new Security and Bandwidth Management equipment which, we are confident will benefit all our customers. This along with the general increase in costs, have compelled us to introduce a new rental fee of Rs 75 on our modems on a monthly basis.

So as from this month you all of you people using Nomad will have an additional Rs75 in your bill. For example if you usually pay Rs 459 you will onward pay Rs 534.

For more information about this sudden increase, you can contact Nomad on +230 4664800 – And of course if they do not reply the call for a long time, let me know. I’ll make a nice post about poor customer service for them lol. Note however that the hotline is operational from 09:00 to Midnight only.

when i have received this letter i was surprised as nomad told that we will to paid Rs 75 more due to previous things that nomad made was to reduce the price according to GVT and now nomad is increasing his price again as they said

“Nomad explained that due to recent installation of new Security and Bandwidth management equipments, they are compelled to introduce this new addition fee to be able to profit from the investment.”

Due to me I don’t think that the new Security and Bandwidth management equipments is not benefit for customer and nomad want to make more profit. nomad don’t care for his customer ,the want only profit.
According to Adsl Nomad price is very expensive. Adsl minimum connection is 256kbps and Nomad is 64kbps. nomad 64 kbps is at Rs 534 and Adsl is at Rs 499 adsl is 3 times than Nomad and is cheaper than nomad

I had been a customer for a few months around 2006. The download speed of 20kb on a 256 line was indeed a “fast” download rate for me!!!
One of their techs had already visited my place to check/reconfigure the modem. But nothing changed. I was so fed up that I didnt wait for any second visit of the tech (he had to come and ascertain that I was having a coverage problem) in order to cancel my subscription without any penalty fee. I canceled anyway and had to pay somewhere over Rs1500 as penalty fee. I didnt care. I this nomad thing to get the hell out of my place! God did I get mad at their crappy customer service! I wouldnt wish nomad upon my worse enemy! :-p

Lol these are famous problems with nomad. Anyway I am forced to use this until I get a phone line here so I can install ADSL (Not Myt as MyT is a refined version of Nomad lol).

For the time being here everything is wireless lol. (Frm the normal phone to the internet).
