Today the world’s oldest man in 2009 named Walter Breuning celebrates his 113th birthday! The birthday party was celebrated hours ago at the Rainbow Retirement Community in Great Falls. Walter Breuning gave a brief birthday talk and concluded with the traditional blowing out of candles.

Walter Breuning who was born on Sept. 21, 1896 was gifted several gifts and national awards. He was also offered a $10000 gift check which he generously donated to the Childhood Language Disorder Clinic of Great Falls.

One major point during his birthday talk was where he mentioned about this year’s economic recession. He said that comparing this year recession to the Great Economic Depression which he live through is just unfair. This one is nothing compared to the one decades ago.

“During the ’30s there was no jobs, no nothing. Now they’ve got more money in circulation than they’ve ever had in history” he said.

When asked about his secret to such a long life, Walter Breuning replies that a good diet and also being physically and mentally active everyday help a lot. Weirdly he also said that one aspirin a day is one of his secret for a long life.

Well we wish happy birthday to the oldest man in the world and hope IC will make another post for him on his 114th birthday next year. :)

That’s amazing. He was my age at the beginning of World War II and he was eighteen years old when World War I began!
