Guillano Zamir – First Mauritian Lotto Winner
2009/11/30 - By Kurt Avish - 850 views
The first Lotto winner of Mauritius is known and his name is Guillano Zamir. The guy’s name is now engraved in some section of Mauritius history as being the very first person to win a lotto jackpot in Mauritius.

Guillano Zamir is married and has 3 kids. As expected by many, the guy is from Riche Terre itself where the winning receipt was registered. Rs 30 million and it is what I call a “shower of gold”. However I was not expecting the dude to publicly claim he is the winner. But well, he decided to let everyone know.
Now Guillano Zamir will as from tomorrow itself be seeing an exponential rise in his friends count as well as relatives count. Yes, hearing he won Rs 30 million, even his brother’s wife’s cousin’s neighbor will remember him. People who never even talked to him will try to be his friends as from tomorrow. This is society and specially this is Mauritius!
To Guillano Zamir: Use the bucks wisely and beware of mongrels in your surrounding.

From what I heard, the guy wanted to remain anonymous. On Sunday however, insurance and investment companies were already knocking at his door. Someone must have leaked the information out. But the real question was what prompted him to come public on Monday? As far as I know, the guy picked his gear up and walked to his work as usual. But I’m suspecting guys from Lottotech convinced him into coming public. It’s a marketing stunt for them: Mauritius has to know who won, he has to become the new face of the Loto dream, the perfect fairy tale for others to aspire to.
@ Vaiizard: The guy isn’t stupid. He’s just being manipulated for the sick gains of Lottotech.

That’s an interesting point you have mentioned about. The worst that I didn’t expect was the “show” they broadcast on MBC News where it was like a real publicity stunt as you said it.
“the perfect fairy tale for others to aspire to” –> And having a winner just the next day when someone lodged a complaint about the Lotto.
Real coincidence.

Exactly. Forget about the 30 million being won, they were praying for someone to win it finally and prove it’s not (yet) a scam. The 30 million were going to go anyway. Now imagine how much this is going to earn them now that Mr. Zamir has gone public.

Don’t forget something else. 45% of sum generated by the Loto goes into public treasury. Instead of increasing VAT by another 2-3%, Government introduce Loto, help Lototech to maximise their outreach to the public and earn a maximum every week.
Bottom-line, here’s the equation: government is happy, private sector (Lottotech) is happy and the public is happy (dreaming they can become multi-millionaires overnight). What more can you ask? This is l’Alliance Sociale at it’s very very best in socio-economic management.

Just to further the debate, some reading for you guys: Guillyano Zamir contraint de vivre dans la clandestinité
I recommend namely this paragraph:
“Pour 100 roupies, il a joué cinq cases et ce n’est que dans l’après-midi de dimanche qu’il a su qu’il était l’unique gagnant du quatrième tirage de la Loterie Nationale. Dimanche matin, pourtant, un journaliste de Radio Plus avait
débarqué dans la cour familiale pour interroger un de ses frères, Harold. Le Loto ayant révélé que le gagnant avait joué dans une tabagie de Riche-Terre et l’ayant appris qu’Harold avait fait éclater des pétards.”
So, Radio Plus was aware of this before the guy even knew he won? Confirms the presence of insurance companies and bankers as well. And confirms that Lottotech is guilty of a blatant breach of confidentiality. If I were Guillyano Zamir, I would have sued them for another Rs 30 million. Someone, please relay this idea to him.

From what i have heard, it is obligatory to reveal one’s identity for a certain sum of money as per rules and regulations of lotto..so that public will know that people really win in this game..Can anyone tell me if its true?
