This hat was originally sold as lot 800, Sotheby’s New York, 18th June 1988, having been donated by Michael Jackson to be auctioned on behalf of the T. J. Martell Foundation. The catalogue entry at the time erroneously described it as worn for the ‘Billie Jean’ video, but it is believed it may actually be the hat Michael wore at the beginning of his performance of the song in the ‘Motown 25-Yesterday, Today, Forever’ TV special in March 1983. This celebrated Tamla Motown’s 25th anniversary, with appearances by the label’s legendary names and also marked the first public performance of Michael’s now-famous moonwalk.

Yes he was never…but you know there are some fools out there who says MJ was a racist or he was what the media image created of him. We as fans we know he wasn’t but there are fools who are blinded by all-for-fame-only media.
