Mauritius Internet Down Since Morning
This is not a usual Sunday in Mauritius as both major Internet Service Providers in Mauritius are down since early morning. Nomad, MyT and Orange ADSL was down and is still unavailable for many people as this article is written. The problem is apparently a DNS one.
At 07:30 today Nomad gave a failed page here. A roam on Twitter confirms that Nomad was down but also the surprising part was that even MyT and ADSL users were not able to access the internet. Of course some people tried alternate dns which made browsing successful however most people in Mauritius do not know about Open DNS so everyone kept waiting.
After switching to Open DNS I was able to access the net and soon after that, Nomad’s service was back again even on the automatic dns setting. Users however had to reset their modem. A look on MSN showed only 2 people online from Mauritius at 09:30 today lol.
Gradually everything is starting to work fine but if you still do not have access then first try to reboot your pc. If it is still not ok then use open dns by manually inserting the new value in your IPv4 properties setting as shown below.
The funny part: Nomad miraculously started to work much before MyT and Orange ADSL today lol or maybe it is a mirage.

ROFL….i experienced this problem this morning….i immediately phoned the customer care and they told me it was a 6 hours downtime and that the connection will be back as from 3.30 p.m but when i tried around noon it was working…lol
