There seem to be a suicide chain as trend in Mauritius Police Stations these last few days! Two days ago, a guy Gervais Romance killed himself and today it is Jean-Philippe Coureur‘s turn to do it.
Two days ago (Monday 2nd Nov) we heard that a prisoner Gervais Romance committed suicide while being in police custody at the Beau Bassin police station. Two days later, we now hear that another guy called Jean-Philippe Coureur was found dead at Rivière des Anguilles police station.
Jean-Philippe Coureur was busted on Sunday for multiple robbery cases and was even kicked by people in Baie du Cap for voyeurism. The family of Jean-Philippe Coureur were refuting the argument that he could have killed himself however the post-mortem report confirms a suicide case by hanging.
Is it the season of suicide in Mauritian Police Stations? Weird!

I think it is great time that police force start to make use of camera in cell. If i am not mistaken there is an on going policy for it. As usual it must be stuck in bureaucracy.

Prisoner are demanding the government to implement capital punishment…and the latter isnt listening. So the prisoners are doing the necessary themselves. Whats wrong in that?. THe gov spends about a thousand rupee per day per prisoner. So our money is being saved…At least the gov can provide them with good quality ropes and something in the ceiling where the ropes can be tied. Maybe it will be in the oncoming budget.
I jus hope other prisoners will follows the trend…
