GRIMLORD – Dolce Vita Sathan As – Special Metal Band Interview

Grimlord’s latest album Dolce Vita Sath An As reached my letter box about 3 weeks ago and I have been listening to their latest album which is simply WOW compared to all the past critics they sustained. Here is an exclusive article about this metal band which I invite you to learn about plus an exclusive interview that Grimlord frontman Barth La Picard gave to Island Crisis.

That was 3 weeks ago when the postman came and was asking for me to sign to get the new album package.  I saw the cover and said “Hope this gonna contain music instead of just noise!”. Well when I listened to it, the first song itself was amazing. In contrary to past reviews of Grimlord, this new album is simply a wonderpiece.

Grimlord latest album somehow make me feel a mix of Iron Maiden and Metallica at some spots. Their handling of the guitar and keyboard is simply amazing. The album starts with the title song Dolce Vita Sath-anas which starts with a weird classical and boring track (for a few seconds only) when suddenly you wake up and see that was just the bad start. What follows is simply exquisite. The title song Dolce Vita Sath-anas is also one of the 3 songs with vocal in this album.

Although I will not say that Barth is the best when it comes to vocal, he indeed made a great effort to produce a good track in this one. The second song When The Heads Are Going Down and Oh My King is a typical black metal Iron Maiden feeling!

If you’re an acoustic fan, then you can’t miss Ancient Land of Y’s – This 7 minutes long acoustic piece is a wonder work! I was listening to the album last week and doing some other work meanwhile when Ancient Land of Y’s started. It was like magic and I stopped everything I was doing to just appreciate this track.

In brief the new album of Grimlord is mostly instrumental with 3 tracks on 9 having vocals, but somehow I preferred the instrumental ones. As Barth said in the interview below, they make you THINK. Grimlord Metal makes you think. The album is supposed to be available in January 2010 so don’t miss this if you are a Metal Music Fan! You can’t miss that! If I need to mark them then Grimlord’s latest goes with a good 80/100!

And to make it more appealing to you all, I got an exclusive interview from Barth and Grimlord for you. Here we go with Grimlord’s interview.

1. Why is the band’s name Grimlord? And how and when did the band adventure started?

Grimlord was born in 2000. I think for a majority of people the name of the band sounds very archaically or common-place but in my opinion it is good because since Dolce Vita…era in my lyrics I began to describe the different fates of dictators, evil empires or historic tyrants. In short I like History. I am a fascinated fan of the period of the middle ages and WW2 and I’m very proud of our country and our history. In the near future I’ll be preparing more composition which will mirror the meaning of Grimlord.

2. I found that your band released some demo and other albums previously whose reviews were, let’s say it “as fair”. I didn’t listen to them but “Dolce Vita Sath-anas has my thumb up for it. Why the name “Dolce Vita Sath-anas”? Any reason for this album title and motivation behind it?

Nice to hear that. Yes, we have a lot of demos and they sound much different than the present release. Opinions were good but sometime my accent did not please some reviewers. I think that Dolce vita is a very good track and I am very satisfied from the result.

The main idea is not to be stuck with one style. Personally I do not believe in metal styles anymore. For example I do not support continuation of classic practice or styles such like clean blues or death metal, norwegian black metal and so on and I think that it is necessary to be beyond style.

Then, it is possible to express onself completely.

3. Tell us a bit about your band members and each one’s role?

They are very nice guys (Adams and Lucass) and talented persons. All the members of Grimlord know what to do with his own instruments and parties. Each one has his task and is perfect for the job.

4.What are the challenges for your band to get recognize? Is it hard?

First of all I like what I do and I do not want to throw it into oblivion. It seems to me that I have come very far together with Grimlord. Everything depends from people, fans and media who I don’t personally know. I think it is very important to create good music and express myself sincerely without being masked by commercial trends.

5. Let’s be honest. Out of your 9 tracks, only 3 have vocals. Why so? Is the vocal part a real concern for your band? (As the first 3 song’s vocal part are quite good).

I did it cos I like experimenting. Probably I will not make it in the future anymore but who knows.
You know instrumental songs prompt imagination of the listeners.

6. And any special message to your fans? Feel free to talk.
