HP Camera Face Tracking Does Not Identify Black People

2009/12/25 - By Kurt Avish - 449 views

HP Cameras face tracking feature cannot recognize or track black faces! This what claims a highly controversial and buzzing youtube video which has already got over 1 million views in the few days.

HP Cameras Face Tracking

The video features a white woman and a black man both trying to see if the HP Camera can detect movement of the face. While the camera can easily detect the white woman’s face movement and move accordingly, the camera was not able to notice the movement of the dark man.

HP has already been informed of this video. The company says that there is most probably a problem with the facial tracking software of some of its cameras. They are to correct this bug soon but didn’t give any more explanation.

On the other hand Youtube is already filled with the famous “Black and White” clan comments!
