The Mauritius Meteorological Station said that this bad weather is due to the active clouds associated with a low pressure region (as shown above) near Mauritius. The weather forecast for the next 24 hours indicates moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder at times.

Flood prone areas are also expected to be greatly affected. Right now itself different parts of the Island have already been affected. The Mauritius Meteorological Service said that this rainy weather is to continue till the 31 of December however lucky as we are in Mauritius, we think that the weather will be fine by Thursday. So don’t worry about your New Year Eve plan getting ruined.

Hi, just came across your website whilst looking for weather tips… Have been offered a last minute (sort of) deal to Mauritius 18-25 Jan, staying at Flic-en-Flac or Morne. I’ve checked the weather forecast – there seem to be a variety of predictions, mostly with thunderstorms and winds from the south west. I’d appreciate an expert view: is next week going to be ok for a relaxing holiday – a mixture of beach and sightseeing?

    Many thanks

    Mike

Hello. You can always read the current day weather forecast at http://www.islandcrisis.net/partner-services/weather-in-mauritius/

It’s an inclusion of the forecast of the Mauritius meteo service itself along with satellite view of the region. Personally I think the weather will be fine but very hot next week. There was a cyclone formation around but it’s already moving away and has weakened.
