Third day of the IC Best and Worst of Mauritius 2009 and we will be announcing the winner of the Mauritius Best Politician of the year 2009. The result of today somehow also shows us the current trend of the political opinion of Mauritians.

The winner is Navin Ramgoolam – The Prime Minister
On 142 voters, the Prime Minister and leader of the Labour Party won 56 votes and FAR behind is Paul Berenger, the leader of opposition with 39 votes. The Minister of Finance Rama Sithanen is also among the favorite of many with 21 votes. The surprise (or maybe not) of this poll is for Pravin Jugnauth the leader of the MSM with only 3 votes. But is it a surprise?
Tomorrow we’ll be announcing the result for Most Ridiculous Personality of Mauritius 2009 and the Worst Website and Shame of the Mauritian web 2009. Navin Ramgoolam veut une majorité de trois-quarts aux prochaines législatives pour amender la constitution et :
Permettre à la constitution de maurice d’avoir un président avec pouvoirs absolu dans le sens très précis – où il détruit le système des checks and balances (freins et contrepoids institutionnels) et où aucun pouvoir ne peut le bloquer. Dans ce cas précis, le docteur Navin Ramgoolam veut être le premier président avec pouvoir absolu.
Mais le docteur Navin Ramgoolam sait très bien que sans le MMM, il n’aura jamais la majorité de trois-quarts. Son option est de faire une alliance pré-électorale avec le MMM et proposer tactiquement le poste de premier ministre à Paul Berenger après l’amendement de la constitution que le MMM va contribuer pour avoir les trois-quarts requis.
