Burj Khalifa – Worlds Tallest Tower at 828 Metres

January 5, 2010 / 3 Comments

Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower and building was inaugurated yesterday in Dubai. The official height of the giant masterpiece was announced yesterday only and the Burj Khalifa is at a height of 828 metres. The height of the tower was kept secret until yesterday.

Burj Khalifa Dubai

Before a gathered crowd of over 400000 people, the height of the tower was officially announced. This tower breaks all existing world records for the world’s tall buildings. The Burj Khalifa was developed by Emaar Properties.

The Burj Khalifa is about 320 metres taller than the Taipei 101 which was holding the world record as being the tallest tower since the year 2004.

Some facts about Burj Khalifa:

  • Burj Khalifa consists of 330 000 cubic metres of concrete
  • 39000 metric tonnes of steel bar
  • 142000 square metres of glass
  • Took 22 million man work hours to build

The Burj Khalifa also has one of the most advanced elevator that travels to a height of about 504 metres!  For the fact, the Burj Khalifa is nearly completely booked. The handover to residents will start in February 2010. Just for the bitter part of it, we hope the rotten eyes of Bin Laden and his alike do not fall on this building!
