Geoeye and Google are providing us and people having their family in Haiti an easy way to view the result of yesterday’s quake. Properties worth millions of dollars have been lost and even the Presidential Palace of Haiti is down. All remains are debris and hope to find survivors among the wreck of this country.

Even hospitals are not able to function properly due to the damages and witnesses even reported to BNO that they are not able to treat the wounded due to lack of serum and other first aid equipments. Check the Google Earth embed below and zoom in to see the damages suffered by Haiti. In case you are new to Google Earth, then you will need to download the plugin to be able to view the map below.

To manipulate, just use your keyboard arrow keys to move and mouse scroll to zoom in till you get a close satellite image. Today its Haiti, tomorrow it can be us and knowing that we recorded some quakes in the past months here too, nothing is inevitable. So I personally request everyone to help and contribute here on this special Haiti Google Page. Even if you have $1 or some cents it, you can contribute. It’s not a matter of amount but rather one of humanitarian help.

IC has already sent some spare dollars which was in our paypal account to set the example. It is not much and we ask you too, if you have some spare dollars, do contribute to the donation.

    I am utterly in shock of the devastation in this impoverished region. It makes me smile knowing that humanity can set aside differences in regards to race, religon and social status to help those in times of need. The extent of this catastrophe may not even be known for weeks, but my prayers and well wishings go out to ALL those who are on front line. Heartbreaking what we have seen till now! Was there any prediction made by scientists or researches earlier about the terrible earthquake? Expected to have more than 100000 dead and most of them still not found. May god help them in these difficult moments.

    @Sanjay,
    THe world was warned about this in very precise manner.
    They were even warned about the magnitude (they were off by .2) they said it would be a 7.2 magnitude quake. This warning came over two years ago. No body did anything to prepare for this disaster. They could have re-enforced the hospitals and schools but,,, no,,, lets see how many we can get rid of…. Then we can all piss and moan about it…
