The world famous Stonehenge Monument is in danger! The historical site has been inserted in the world list of most threatened historical spot. This is mostly due to the huge among of tourists visiting this place everyday and the damage done to its nearby environment.

The Stonehenge Monument is one which is visited by millions of people every year and its real meaning and use by prehistoric civilization is still an amazing quest to solve. From what we know, the Stonehenge Monument is assumed to be an ancient astronomical observatory made of rocks but is also said to be a place where the rocks are aligned in a mystical way. A healing place for some.

The place was supposed to be a calm place surrounded by nature. However with touristic developments, specially the main A303 and A344 roads that run along the historic site, the natural beauty of the Stonehenge Monument has been destroyed.

It is like the damage (human presence) has affected the very foundation of this memory of ancient civilization and nature. It is no more nature, but rather an artificial nature surrounding recreated by our current civilization. The excessive traffic of tourists around the site has also ruined the magical silence of the spot.
