@Don: should be possible to pass your exams without tuition coz as our laureate says, it's personal work which counts the most. But that may be true only for english lit and the languages,i don't know. Haven't sat my hsc yet but will soon enough!donno wat i'd do without my mats tuition or without my gp tui! so yeah, somehow educ in mru isnt all that free. it demands lots of investment-be it in books, private tui or school material. i also note that our libraries(french:bibliotheques) are not all that well furnished and that if parents do not have the money to buy books which are not necessarily on the school's book list but which are needed to contribute to the student's wider reading, then that student is penalised. that may be why we can observe that the greater percentage of those who do well in education is either middle or upper class. the govt and society should therefore work for rendering educ is mauritius fairer by giving equal chances to everyone. not that 100% students will pass but at least they'd have been provided with the tools for success. what use they make of these tools depends ultimately on the students and their character only.

Check your spelling!!

It is not ''Aubeeluck Anusha Sheila – Loretto College Quatre Bornes''
but rather: AUBEELACK Anusha Sheila-Loreto College Quatre Bornes

our poor laureate hates it when her name is misspelled. lol

Great site though. Helps to see what other people's opinion on an issue are.

I personally think that that the scholarship system should remain. The scholarship becomes a goal for many and helps them give the best of themselves. Yet, the government is right in wanting to sponsor more students and should definitely go ahead with the project because I know some friends who won't be attending university-UOM or other tertiary educ institution- because they do not have the financial means to. Many don't even know that they can have access to scholarships or bursaries or get financial help form banks which offer student loan schemes. Education opens so many doors nowadays and since we all have the right to education, our politicians should see to it that this right of ours is not flouted.
Our laureate says that hard work is one thing but that what really helps to make the difference is the love we should have for the subjects we opt for. With sociology and not maths as a main subject, she proved that when you love something hard enough, it is possible to excel in it and come out with flying colours. Congrats to lcqb! and to bps too coz that's from where she hails!
