There are many reasons why men dump women. Some are obvious while some are ridiculous! Every lady out there, who has had a date in the last decade, will confirm it: The dating scene is brutal! Finding Mr. Right is far from easy and just finding a nice guy you want to hang out with can be a real challenge.

So picture the scene: You meet someone. There seems to be interest on both sides, some chemistry, so you agree to go on a date. Dinner, movies and nights out follow. A couple of weeks later everything is going well and you feel like he could be “The One”.

He may even stay over, meet your friends and family and you are happy in the knowledge that you are now a couple. And then it happens: He suddenly is elusive with you, does not have time to meet and finally comes out with “I need my own space! We should cool things a bit for a while!”

Every girl has been there and it is never easy to accept. So why do guys do this? Here are some of the reasons why men dump a woman:

• Boredom: yes, you read correctly. Guys just have a short attentions span. If they are not having fun all the time in a relationship they move on to something else. Football, an evening out with their buddies… anything!

• Mismatched expectations: He may want to see you once a week; you are hoping to see him every other day. This may well make him feel unable to deal with your “excessive demands” or conclude that you are too keen for him.

• Mismatched expectations, the second: HE may want to see YOU every day; you are not so keen and can’t accommodate his wishes. He may well conclude you are not keen enough on him and move on. You just can’t win this one, ladies!

• Outgoing personality: When he met you he loved the fact that you are chatty and funny and entertained him with stories for hours. Now he is not so keen to see you chat to other people and calls you too flirty. You can either get a personality transplant or you can’t win this one either, ladies!

• Commitment angst: A guy may really like you and enjoy your company. Then he might suddenly notice that you are getting serious about him. Suddenly the thought of commitment, weddings or babies pop into his mind and he is scared. This may well be the last you see of him.

• Other attractions: If guys are attracted by other girls they may well conclude you are not attractive enough and call it a day. Worse if the attraction turns into cheating, of course… either way, count yourself lucky to he shot of him.

• His best mate is single: Some, admittedly very immature guys, will be so jealous of their single friends and the “single guy activities” they enjoy that they may well dump you just to be single as well and join in the drunken karaoke nights out or trips to the strip club.

• Out of sight, out of mind: Say he has to travel for work more or your job takes you away from your home town. Suddenly you are not available to meet him as often as before and before long you hardly hear from him. If he finds it too hard to stay in touch he may well end it right there.

• His friends don’t like you: this is a tough one. You may be getting on really well. Then you meet his best friend, who takes an instant dislike to you. Perhaps you have a similar hairstyle to his crazy last girlfriend or he just doesn’t like you. Some guys will take a reason as flimsy as this and dump you!

• Things are going too well: All is well, you are spending lots of time together, find you have the same likes and dislikes and you have a lot in common. This is great, right? He may suddenly feel that it is all too easy and run for the hills.

• Real life: You have a problem at work or with family and tell him about it. Whilst you open up about your innermost troubles his eyes glaze over and he mentally turns tail to run away. Did I mention he wanted this relationship to be fun at all times without real life getting in the way?

• Improving him: This is a common one, admit it ladies. You like your new guy a lot, but you really want to make him better. So you insist he get rid of his old trainers, get a haircut and wear different aftershave. By the time you are finished with him the guy staring at him in the mirror is so different and he might well decide to go back to his former self, without you.

Clearly every relationship is different and I am sure everyone out there could add a couple more reasons to this list. Suffice to say, if you do find “Mr Right” he won’t mind any of the above and just make it work with you. So keep on looking!
