The Atlas Vampire Case and Facts
I doubt if you have heard about the Atlas Vampire Case. Some days ago Priscus mentioned this to me and asked me to read a bit about it. So let’s get back in history to have an insight about the Atlas Vampire case and some facts about this unsolved mystery!

In 1932 in Stockholm, Sweden a 32 year old pr0stitute was murdered by a crushing blow to the skull. Upon investigating, it was noted in the case file that it appeared that someone had been drinking her bl00d. Her c0rpse was discovered some two days after her murder.
This case is known as the Atlas murder case or the Atlas Vampire case because of the area in which it occurred in Sweden. No arrests were ever made in connection with the case and it remains unsolved to this day.
Imagine the hysteria at the moment this statement was made public. Many believe this to be the case though little factual information is available. Numerous so called vampires have committed heinous crimes, and been captured providing details of their crimes and desires. Ironically, this case remains unsolved and is merely a speck in the long list of supposed vampire killers.
Possible reasons as to why the detectives would have arrived at this conclusion can be found by reviewing the information, the era, and forensic science available in 1932!

At this time crimes were solved mainly by witness statements, fingerprint evidence, blood typing, or other possible connections of the victim and the perpetrator. DNA was unavailable as were many advance technologies used today such as blood splatter or spray direction, and weap0n testing. We can only guess as to how the conclusion of blood drinking was made.
Was there a glass such as one would drink out of that held remnants of blood as if it had been drunk? If so this could explain the reasoning behind this statement.
Other possible reasons would be if the blood appeared to have been removed from the body with a syringe, if so there would have been injection sights. Did there appear to be smears in the blood one would make if the blood were licked from the body or the floor?
Any of these scenarios are possible when looking at the reasoning behind this being termed as a case of vampirism. However, another possible often overlooked theory is that the killer simply wanted to give the impression that the blood was drank. In doing so they set the scene for just such a conclusion. From a criminology perspective it would provide a cover from detection since the sensationalism of the situation would capture the attention of many and thus divert their attention from the real killer.
