A German owned company in Mauritius is on the verge of over exploiting our natural reef ecosystem. according to a complaint received by Island Crisis, a company going by the shortname MCML, and which is owned by a German, is most probably going to abuse of it’s license to operate within Mauritius ecosystem and the complaint is to act as a warning to this company.
A local company operating in the local ornamental fisheries industry contacted us yesterday to mention about this highly illegal activity. Upon some research on the web, we also noticed that the topic was mentioned across many social media networks in Mauritius.
According to the complaint received, MCML got a license to operate in our region but only for BREEDING purposes. The company is allowed to catch a limited amount of fish and then breed them before exporting to other countries.
However according to the complaints and reports, MCML is actually going to catch fish directly from our natural reef ecosystem and exporting these fish without actually using them for breeding purposes. Other fish breeders of the country are quite angry at this unethical method of MCML. For the fact, if what MCML is going to do is true, then the company will also be destroying our protected ecosystem. They will not be helping to breed the fish but will instead be decreasing the fish in our ecosystem at an alarming rate for their own profit!

We hope that the Ministry of Environment and concerned authorities will take the necessary action to solve this problem soon. We are Mauritians and we like that foreigners come here to invest into ethical business using our natural tokens however ANY REAL MAURITIAN will not agree that some persons (whether local or foreign) to abuse and destroy our natural gems!

hello to all ,first of all i will like to clarify some of the comments ,first MCML have not start it’s operation yet and secondly the company is not only using the marine ornamenatls fish to export but also for breeding whereas there are some company who have ask a license to collect and breed but what are they doing only collect .Thirdly this company have also a Mauritian shareholder why always blamming only the german guy ,well if the mauritian guy didn’t invite the german guy will he be there ????? and also of all the comments that have been written that the 3 shareholders have been seen leaving OCEAN REATAURANT i think this is magic because they are not in mauritius at this moment .it’s very easy to write so many bad things on MCML when you don’t really have the proof of this and also always listening to what come from the mouth of some short minded people and they say that mauritius is a free island i still find it a tabou and also the people have not grown in the mind why always listen to what short mind people says and write a comment .i undestand you don’ want to waste your time to know what is the correct project of the company ,you are all busy elsewhere so you just listen to al stupid gossip and make comments .common guys learn this before you write something make your own investigation and have your own opinion then you can write
