Most Common Reasons Why Men Cannot Ejaculate

March 12, 2010 / 3 Comments

Taboo topic for some today! Men and women often wonder why some men cannot ejaculate during an intercourse. Let’s see some most common reasons why some men cannot ejaculate. A regular sex life is a normal and health part of most adult relationships.

ejaculation problems

Any problems that interfere with normal and satisfying sexual activity can be a major problem, not just for the health of the reproductive organs, but also for mental wellbeing. Many men experience at some time problems with ejaculation. It is possible for a man to have an erection and even climax, without ejaculating. This may have a variety of causes.

Ejaculation Problem due to Psychological Causes

Psychological problem or anxieties may be to blame. Some men may be afraid of becoming fathers and their body inadvertently withholds ejaculation for this reason. It may be the case that unprotected sex is taking place and the fear of pregnancy is interfering with the pleasurable experience of lovemaking. In such circumstances the use of reliable contraception may proof to ease the worry associated with sex.

Another scenario may be a couple trying for a baby when the man is not psychologically ready to commit to becoming a father. Again, the fear or pregnancy may interfere with full sexual enjoyment. In such circumstances a couple should try to talk over their choice of trying to starting a family and only follow that course of action when both partners are ready. Couples therapy or counseling may be an appropriate step in this case.

Ejaculation Problem due to Medication

Medication such as antidepressants or pain medication can cause an inability to ejaculate and/or reach orgasm in men. A change of medication may be an option, which should be discussed with your doctor. An alternative medication, if available, may not have this particular upsetting side effect and may cure the problem.

Ejaculation Problem due to Physical Issues

Physical issues such as the effects of prostate surgery, an infection of the prostate gland (Prostatitis) or a partial blockage of the urethra may also be to blame for an inability to ejaculate. These issues can also cause a condition known as “retrograde ejaculation” where semen flows back into the bladder instead of being ejected through the urethra!

retrograde ejaculation

All of these issues should be looked at by a doctor to ensure the do not hide any more serious health problems. These complaints may also affect fertility and medical intervention in the form of reproductive therapy may be needed and can be very successful.

It is always best to have all medical symptoms checked by a doctor to ensure there are no underlying illnesses the need treatment. In the case of ejaculation problems it may be a simple matter such as changing medication or talking things over with your partner to improve matters.
