A 30-30 For Mauritius General Election 2010?

April 22, 2010 / 44 Comments

Considering the trend and the fact that the MMM alone is no more the weak political party many thought it was, I was thinking if there is a possibility of a 30-30 on the General Election result day.

draw

I am not so good at the policies and the science behind Politics in Mauritius (Our Political specialist Prisheela, is away right now), so I am assuming that this is something which is possible. Am I right? A 30:30 is possible isn’t it?

Well, one week ago while examining the trends, the Labour Party and his two little… huh… followers (the MSM and the PMSD) were the obvious predicted upcoming winners. However, in one week time and specially after the kick-out cut scene of Rama Sithanen, and the presentation of Alliance De Lavenir’s candidates, I have the strong feeling that this election is going to be tight. Really tight!

If you look at all online surveys including our’s (you can vote here), you will notice that the MMM is stronger. However we must also consider the fact that most people who read online are people who are more informed of the truth about this country rather than those who depend only on Dan Callikan’s masterpiece! (The MBC!)

So logically, most online citizens will tend to have a rebellious nature toward this current government. I want to clarify it here. I am neither pro-MMM nor pro-Labour. If a party is wrong, we’ll piss it off! Same for another one. Having said that, it is also a fact that on 2010 only a minority of people are online citizens in Mauritius. Therefore a majority of people are MBC’s fanatics and having the “Mo vote just mo kalite” tendency.

Will Mauritians vote like the Americans this time or we will vote like Mauritians in 2010? What do you think? Ps: can someone clarify with me what happen when there is a 30:30 in an election?
