Youtube, the video sharing site is down and giving 502 server error since about 20 minutes now. According to the different reactions on social networks such as Twitter, youtube seems to be down in many countries and not just in Mauritius.

We noticed this when our ad server kept sending error messages today about a video “Paradi An Dey” not being displayed on the sidebar of our site. As such I went to check and helas, the famous 502 server error was being displayed. For now there is not report on why the site is down.

Update 13:10 GMT+4: Youtube is up again in some countries and showing the message: “We are currently performing site maintenance. Be cool – we’ll be back 100% in a bit.” – Nothing too bad then!

Update 15:30 GMT+4: Youtube is down again. The service is quite unstable as Google keeps doing their maintenance work.

Update 16:16 GMT+4: Youtube is up here (Mauritius) and in many part of the world. Jokingly: Will we be typing UP and DOWN for the whole day here today? lol – Thanks to all the buddies commenting below who are sharing the status in their respective countries too.
