Anti aging supplements must be taken during middle age according to a new study. The study reveals that in order to get the best results from the anti aging supplements available in the market, it is better to take them in the middle age instead of waiting till the age of 60 and above.
An experiment conducted on the rats have shown that middle aged rats demonstrated improvements in their physical abilities when they received the anti aging medicines, while older rats displayed no such improvement.
[stextbox id="grey"]“It is possible that there is a window during which these compounds will work, and if the intervention is given after that time it won’t work,” argued study scientist Jinze Xu, who is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Florida’s Institute on Aging.[/stextbox]
But, the study has, till now, been conducted on rats and not on humans. So it is not necessary that in the case of humans the results will be exactly the same. So, for this purpose further research is required.
In spite of the fact that science has progressed quite amazingly, yet it is true that scientists really do not know the exact cause as well as the process of aging and why people loose strength and body functions with age. However, new research is pointing its direction to the cell’s powerhouses, called mitochondria, and hints that it is a very crucial player of aging. With age this mitochondria gets affected and aging starts. Again too much of damage to mitochondria can lead it to stop working properly.
The present study based its research on a particular commercially available supplement. It is easily available in the market and is used for controlling chronic fatigue as well as fighting against muscle aging. This supplement has oenzyme Q10 and creatine – a combination which helps in enhancing muscle performance.
The researchers involved in the study applied the supplement to 21 month old rats which are considered as middle aged and on 29 month old rats which are regarded as over 60 in terms of human age. The results reveal that the supplement worked much better on the 21 month old rats.
If further research reveals that in case of humans also, anti ageing supplements show better results when taken in middle age, it will be a very important medical discovery and the entire concept of taking anti aging medicines will be altered.
