Weird title, I know! And it’s intentional. Read on.. This is the story of a Mauritian 18 year old girl allegedly raped after being fooled with a Rohypnol containing drink. Of course what is a better breaking gossip story to start a gossip based Monday morning in Mauritius.

While this story would have been “just another bullsh*t story” in Europe or even the USA, here in Mauritius, this little story is wisely powered by a less known word among the population: Rohypnol or more commonly known as Date Rape drug.

Let us first talk about the little story. Well it all started when a hot (I assume) 18 year old girl was enjoying in a nightclub at Flic en Flac yesterday. The story is receiving a lot of media coverage since the girl concerned here is the grand-daughter of an very well known person. She wanted to enjoy some alcohol base cocktails (excluding those which she probably drank before this one). A dude aiming to “abuse her” added some Rohypnol or GHB in her drink.

The rest is obvious. She was either abused by one or more guys and she does not remember anything. So you must be thinking what is the Rohypnol? Rohypnol is a drug which dissolves easily in alcohol and its consumption results in a very deep state of drowsiness with partial amnesia. Basically you can r*pe a girl and she will not even know who did it when she comes back to her normal senses.

The presence of Rohypnol in Mauritius is not new. In fact this case we have today is often seen on an almost daily basis in nightclubs, casinos (Sorry Ti Vegas!), and other nightlife events. The amount of young girls being abused on a daily nightly basis at those parties and events is not so low as we naive citizens think it is.

Well in most cases you will never hear about them as either the girls do not remember about it or they are used to these things. Key of the day: “These things” mean behavior of a psychosocial wh0re!

The question today is not about Rohypnol but about our nightclubs. Nightclubs are common in Europe and USA and many other countries. However most parents in Mauritius prevent their child from this type of life. Yea you get pussy’s easily, getting to put your damn thing easily in so many distinct holes and if you are a girl, you get to try so many d*cks! Great.

But is this what we really want our country to be? What about our culture? Self respect? Forget all that. What about knowing what is wrong and what is good? About knowing where to hang on? About having a respectable personal life? Yea many of you will say I am being so old fashioned right now. I am not against nightclubs but at least people who visit these places should at least know who to trust, how to hang on, with WHO to hang on and how to always be on the alert while enjoying.

Well i strongly believe that many people who have commented on this article should have a global view of life in Mauritius first . We’ve got our pros and cons but our living style is not that perfect or better than European or western people either.Night clubs are fine ,its up to you to know what you want .Some go there for Sex ,Drinks and Dance .Even some just go there to chill out have a nice time meeting people.Our contradiction Indian attitude about sex might be a source of nuisance rather these days . And concerning the rohypnol it could have been used anywhere else,like wedding ,end of year party etc ,then it would not have been and issue as it is when it happen in a night club. My personal advice to young girls and even boys would be to avoid night club in Mauritius because i know very well how its being ran ,pretty much every where in Mauritius. there no such laws for night clubs. Safety ,infrastructure,employee ,management there’s not yet any local or international norm for them to abide to. I just hope Mauritian government are going to look in it very soon and hopefully re-design the laws to develop night life for our young people . Thanks guy i think my comment might help.

Actually the so-called date rape drug is not so common, and very rare if not absent altogether.
Alcohol’s effects on female physiology make such drugs pointless.

I would just like to point out that the date rape drug could be used on anyone, not just women but men too so at the end of the day, depending on the clubs people decide to go to, they should just be careful and watch their own drinks. Condoning a woman because of her looks is just very low, and using unethical and horrendous ways to approach her and take advantage of her is just plain wrong! Making a judgment about “ALL“ women by saying “nowadays all that matters to them is the size of a mans genitals” is also very poor. You are not forsaking your own sisters/cousins who are growing up in this latest generation, when you make such an understatement guys! Specially Ashish, it sounds like you are not well educated when it comes to treating women the right way. Just because a woman is wearing a top with guess across it doesn’t mean she is asking for sexual attention from men like you. People go to nightclubs for the social aspect – not necessarily for drink, drugs or sex!
Typically the nightclubs I’ve seen in Mauritius are nother like those in Europe or western areas – they are seedy. They sound more like brothels than clubs. So, I assume the underlying issues is with the people running these clubs need to tidy up their act.

Well how many people goes to the Night Club to dance?? In fact people just go there there for SEX. Really,its not surprising. And those people who are not able to get sex, end up with DRINKS.

      In Mauritius, the nightclubs tend to have a bad reputation. Why do people behave like they do is controlled by a cultural, ethical and moral issue in Mauritius.
      The standard nightclubs in Europe are not considered ‘dirty’. There are however, ‘dirty’ as u might say, and dangerous nightclubs in Europe too, and you would have a choice to go there or not. I don’t see much choices in Mru.

It’s the people here who have spoiled the reputations of nightclubs. It’s not the place, but the people who visit those place tend to take full advantage of alcohol. Nightclubs and Discos in Mauritius mean: “Boire, Nissa” They can also be a point for drug dealing. Most people go to these places to have drinks, get drunk and and they are high they even end up hooking up with some1 maybe they dnt even know (One night stand )
Well frankly I dnt really understand how come people are not able to control themselves when they go to such places. Is it the negative waves that influence them? What is the source of those negative waves?
