The Mauritius Horse Racing season 2010 starts the buzz with a really bad news for its fans. The Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation (MBC Mauritius) will no more broadcast the Mauritian Horse Racing live on TV and its Radio channels.
If you are in Mauritius, you must have already heard about the negotiations going on between the MBC and MTC since more than 1 month. To summaries the whole thing, the MBC is asking for broadcast fee of Rs 1.6 million per racing day to the MTC!
Of course this is an unacceptable fee. Moreover in every country, it is the broadcast channels that pay the organisor of a sport event to get the right of broadcast, but here in Mauritius the opposite is ridiculously true! Well it has been like that since years.
The MTC refused to pay this enormous amount of money and therfore proposed a sum of Rs100 000 to the MBC per racing day. Our national shame, the MBC with all their shameful steps and decisions in turn proposed a lower fee of Rs 200000 per racing day but with laughable conditions as mentioned below!
- No Broadcast on Sports Channel
- No Broadcast on MBC Radios (The sh*ts that no one really listen to!)
For the fact, the previous price per racing day was at around Rs 47000! All due to a failed management at the MBC more than ever along with all their failures of trying to innovate to the void, whether on the TV, radio or laughable website.
[stextbox id="grey"]The MTC has also been negotiating with Parabol Maurice for the broadcast and this has eventually resulted in a fruitful deal. For this year, the MBC will only be broadcasting the races on MBC3 (not on TNT and Radio) and as from next year, Parabol Maurice will take over the broadcast.[/stextbox]
By the way, for those who are waiting for the regular Horse Racing Tips 2010 here, we’ll meet soon with some really cool innovation too!
