WordPress 2.8.3 is out and you all wordpress users should upgrade if you are already on any of the previous 2.8.x versions. Apparently this new release is a security fix and so you should not take it as an option but as a must to upgrade.
As usual I was about to blog today morning and noticed the annoying promp above in the WordPress dashboard asking me to upgrade. At first sight I said “WTH another upgrade?”
This is what Ryan Boren from wordpress said in the release post about WordPress 2.8.3:
Unfortunately, I missed some places when fixing the privilege escalation issues for 2.8.1. Luckily, the entire WordPress community has our backs. Several folks in the community dug deeper and discovered areas that were overlooked. With their help, the remaining issues are fixed in 2.8.3.
So to not be the target of some ugly minds, you are advised to upgrade now itself. WordPress fix release have been of very short interval since the official release of 2.8 – On one side this is showing that they could have been too much in a hurry to release the WP 2.8 but well on the other hand we can be sure the excellent WP guys are working hard out there to make WordPress better.
Anyway time to click your upgrade button guys and girls!
