TD Recognizes Customers Who Spread Positivity Across Canada


Named by colleagues at TD, annual appreciation campaign focuses on people making an impact in their local community

TORONTO, September 27, 2021 / CNW / – Today, TD Bank Group (TD) launched its annual TD Thank You Campaign to personally recognize and reward customers who have helped enrich their community. The 2021 recipients have all shown a commitment to spreading optimism and supporting their neighbors during difficult times without asking for anything in return.

Nominated by colleagues at TD, eight TD customers were surprised with personalized thank you gifts in support of their charitable efforts that brought a smile to many members of their community, delivered with the help of popular influential celebrities.

“The TD Thank You Campaign embodies TD’s unique culture, and we channel the personal connections made between our colleagues and customers to bring this annual campaign to life,” said Betsey chung, Executive Vice President and Chief Global Marketing Officer, TD Bank Group. “We have the privilege of knowing our customers on a personal level and learning the stories of these selfless individuals – those who help make their communities and the world a slightly better place than they have found.”

Customers such as beneficiary TD Thank you, Georges sully who launched a platform in 2020 called Black Designers of Canada, to help support black artists and celebrate black excellence in design. Nominated by Camsia smith, Regional Director, Black Community Business Development at TD, Sully received $ 10,000 to help support and amplify the work of the Black Designers of Canada. In addition, TD has mandated Andrew Patterson to create a 14 foot mural in from Toronto popular fashion district, to introduce Sully and the black designers of Canada. The gift was presented by Brandon Gonez, media personality and host of online news and entertainment programs.

In Quebec, TD recipient Thank you Paul evra expanded the Lasallian Center by Saint Michel, a community-based organization focused on education and support for children and adults in disadvantaged and vulnerable communities. Nominated by Guyllaume BrunTD Personal Banking Associate Evra has been recognized for his immense impact, including the launch of two new programs aimed at reducing food insecurity in the neighborhood of Saint Michel. With the help of TD, Evra’s popular annual barbecue called “The President’s BBQ” will receive an infusion of approximately $ 5,000 value of kitchen supplies and $ 10,000 for food, equipment and instructor fees, to help Evra continue cooking classes at the Center. The gift was presented by the chef of Haitian origin, Paul Toussaint, owner of the Montreal Pan-Caraibes Kamúy restaurant.

The community of North Preston, Nova Scotia, is the oldest and largest black community in Canada and houses the recipient TD Thank you, LaMeia Reddick. In 2019, Reddick, who runs a youth drop-in center in his own home, started the North Preston Surf Program alongside other community leaders. The initiative aims to provide people of African descent New Scotland with access to swimming and surfing lessons, challenging historical narratives and removing barriers to inclusiveness for the sport. Ulyana sparks, operations manager at TD, named Reddick for his surf program in North Preston, whose thank you gift consisted of over 50 new surfboards and surf leashes to help expand the program, as well as a cargo trailer covered to transport the equipment. The gift was presented to Reddick by the writer, surf enthusiast and actor, Vinessa Antoine.

At Prince Edward Island, Eastern pointers, an indie folk group forced to cancel their Australian tour has shifted gears to help raise much-needed funds for local charities. To this end, they brought together musicians, actors and industry professionals for virtual readings of the Canadian classic, Anne of the Green Gables. Thanks to their nominator, Tina Murphy, Director, Community Banking and External Events at TD, The East Pointers received a refurbished Sprinter van to make it the perfect touring vehicle to help spread more positivity in their community – with just the right seats, storage and sound. system – created by YouTube star and home improvement expert DIY Danie.
