The Tipoff event returns to SimpliFi Arena on October 11

HONOLULU — The University of Hawaii men’s basketball program will host its sixth annual Tipoff event on Tuesday, October 11 at SimpliFi Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center. The Tipoff, sponsored by Bank of Hawaii and Hawaiian Airlines, is one of the most anticipated UH social events of the year and returns in person for the first time since 2019.

The Tipoff allows fans to enjoy great food, win auction items, and mingle with Rainbow Warrior players and coaching staff. This will be the first time in three years that the popular event will take place in the UH arena. The event was canceled in 2020 due to COVID and last year’s event was a virtual affair.

“The Tipoff event is one of the dates we most look forward to every season and even more so this year,” the head coach said. Eran Ganot said. “We look forward to interacting with our great fans and supporters after such a long wait. It will no doubt be an enjoyable evening and a great way to build excitement for what is to come in the 2022-23 season. “

Fundraising begins at 5:30 p.m. with drinks and a silent auction. A dinner and program will follow with players and coaching staff participating in a Q&A with the Spectrum Sports broadcast team.

Tables (10 seats) are available from $3,000. Individual tickets can also be purchased at $300 each. Contact Dominique Drury to [email protected]

All proceeds from the evening will go to the men’s basketball program. Most of the funds will go toward student-athlete tuition and health and nutrition. This will also benefit the program’s recruitment efforts.

UH fires 10 players from last year’s roster, highlighted by all-conference second-team leading scorer and goaltender Noel Coleman. The ‘Bows also eagerly welcome veteran players Samuta Avea and Juan Munoz who sat out last year due to injury. Five new players also join the team, including the transfer from Washington State ryan rapp and highly touted post player Mor Seck out of the national powerhouse Prolific Prep.
